The place is currently going under some heavy construction of additions and touchups before the start of summer. So will be back once it is fully done to see the spectacular job I know it will be.
I like the simplicity of this taproom with a few highlights from the wood corner and the Spectre skull. They don't have flights or small 5oz pours but they do offer samples for your curiosity needs. First off tried War and Peace and it's cacao variant. Never have had them before, mostly because I see it and then it's gone or I'm looking for something else at the time of wanting.
War and Peace (also cacao variant), imperial coffee stout, 9.5- Doing a combo review mostly because I had them in sample pour size. Both have that bitter roasted note from the coffee that lingers a bit long for me but the middle flavors are actually really well done. From the regular I get a little green pepper so I'm siding with the cacao version. Comes off a bit smoother in the middle.
Jameson Brown Ale, aged in Jameson whiskey barrel, 7.4- Coca-Cola brown. Smell isn't as boozy as I had thought it might be. Mostly just getting a combo of the sweet barrel smell and a thinner brown ale. Flavor parallels nose and there's no heat at all. A "simple" flavor in which the Jameson brings up the brown ale so you could honestly drink it faster than normal. Sometimes they can come off a bit too toffee/biscuit tasting and you need to take longer time with it. Maybe I should slow down when it's 7.4…
Fika, stout, imperial milk stout with Fika coffee and Sawtooth Maple syrup, 8.6- Faint smells oddly enough, coffee, heat mainly, maybe a hint of sweetness from the maple. Not as milk stout as I would like, but maybe that's because it's the imperial factor. Low bitterness could say because it's the maple (and milk) that bring it down, but the maple overall to me is low. Heat though, is almost non existent, after you swallow you could detect it but this one could be a...
Read moreNever in my life have I encountered the level of disrespect and arrogance from staff members as I have at Fulton Brewery. On 3 separate occasions, staff members have treated myself and people in my party with a level of rudeness I’ve NEVER seen or experienced at another establishment.
To make matters worse, the gentleman who was tending bar has been a complete jerk on two of the 3 visits.
On 8/3, prior to attending a Twins game, we visited Fulton. I’m not sure who approved a private party on such a busy day, but they had most of the taproom closed off. Seems like a terrible idea considering how busy it was— we would’ve spent double or triple of what we did had we had a place to sit. The taproom likely lost money because of this decision. However, that isn’t even the reason for us to be upset. We were standing near the curtain by the bar, as the line was out the door and nowhere to sit. As a party of 5, we were trying to make sure we weren’t taking any space. I think there were 4 bartenders attempting to take down the line and get the taproom under control— it was so packed and we could see how stressed the staff was. Yet, this does not excuse rude behavior. The bartender suddenly grabbed my friends small tray of food, and shoved it down to the very edge near the curtain and says “this isn’t your personal bar”— as if we were a burden. I’ve worked in hospitality, retail, customer service. He could’ve said, “hey I’m just gonna put this towards the end to make more room,” or “ I am scooting this down so I can take more orders.” Simple, effective and straight to the point. His frustration was the final straw. I will never give a dime to this dirty taproom with inconsiderate bartenders.
Don’t place the blame on the guest because your management failed to plan...
Read moreA much loved brewery I'm too cheap to pay to park for so I tend to only pop in on holidays. Side note: if you use Facebook for hours; there's a Fulton Taproom page.... you'd assume you'd use for info? Don't it's not monitored so not updated. Use the Fulton Beer page for all the tap room goings on. I haven't ate here more than the chicken tacos once. Not that they were bad... they were some of the best tacos I've ever had! The beer here is great. What could be superior to great beer? The pretty outstanding friendly and knowledgable staff! Funner? Definitely peruse peruse the kitchy vending machine!! Need fun socks? It has them. Need a fun little something to hand out to friends to let them know you're out of ..."cares" to give? Has the perfect token! The tap room is spacious and never lacking in friendly patrons that let a beery stranger like me chat them up. Fulton merch is on display and easy to peruse. I need to get my priorities right and realize the fun and deliciousness that I am guaranteed to have at Fulton is worth the couple of $s I'd spend on parking. Albeit parking isn't free, it is close. Not to mention once you park you can easily bop around to five nearby breweries. Stop in to Fulton for... everything... delicious beer poured by friendly staff in a comfortable tap room and since you're here grab a deliciously satisfying...
