Sadly, where I live, we don’t have many bagel shops, so anytime I am in a new city I want to snag a bagel if I can. I searched for the best breakfast places in Minneapolis online and heard great things about Rise Bagel. Let me start with the things that weren’t great. Since I’m from out of town, I wasn’t really sure where I should park and most of the spots on the street were taken, so I opted for an adjacent parking lot, even though I wasn’t sure whether I was going to be threatening or not. it looked like all of the spaces were reserved for tenants or something, but I found a handicap spot and hoped for the best. And then tried finding the accessible entrance, but struggled because the two main entrances I saw both head stairs. They both had a sign posted about an accessible entrance on the south side of the building, but apparently my directions were off, so I just walked around the building until I saw a door with a push button. So I meanwhile it was a hassle, at least it did have a push button! Once I got in, the downside was that the line was, probably 15 people deep or more at times. The good news is that it went fairly quickly. This is a large spot so there’s adequate room to snag a table or stand around while you wait. Now, the good news… The food was incredible! I LOVED my smoked salmon bagel sandwich on sesame. However, my friend let me try a bite of her artisan bagel sandwich on a salt bagel and holy cow that was a melody of flavors. My smoked salmon was so delectable and did not have the overwhelming fish taste, which I really was thankful for. The classic was just that… Amazing bagel, fluffy, egg, great bacon, and quality cheese. The staff was very friendly and I most certainly will be back. Especially now that I have found the...

Worst bagel place i’ve ever been to for so many reasons. First lets talk about the blatant cultural appropriation by playing their marketing around “bodega” and “new york”. This is an out of touch LA pop up type trendy place and to compare themselves to authentic new york bodega bagels is an affront to the entire population of the island city.
Next lets talk about the bagels them selves. We went in tuesday, The first day of the week they are open, and the bagels were either 4 days old or… or nothing they were old, stale, and literally flavorless. we got the classic everything bagel, but in reality apparently there is only 3 things in “everything”, which are burnt garlic, sesame seeds, and poppy seeds. New york bagels are wrapped tightly in paper and foil to keep in the steam and warm and soften the bagel, Rises bagels are toasted before ingredients are added AND after, burning the burnt garlic more, and making what might have originally been a soft bagel, feel like cardboard.
Im not gonna talk about the rosemary coffee because that’s on me for even thinking it might be good.
for two bagels and a coffee it was 27$, the google suggested review said “Best bagel ive had since new york” and i have to believe that was made by my worst enemy to ruin my day.
Update They were also cashless, insane, a bodega thats cashless, the owners have their head so far up somewhere they have no concept of anything outside of the...
Read moreI am amazed that they don't bother explaining what they will serve when you order a smoked salmon bagel. It was not a fun surprise, and you'd think they might pay attention to the comments here and want to stop more people from being disappointed. It is not proper lox, which is the default expectation these days when a bagel place mentions smoked salmon.
It's fully cooked with a sort of smoked glaze on the outside. Very thickly sliced and not evenly distributed across the bagel.
Too little capers. Extremely thin layer of cream cheese. Filling was very haphazardly placed so some corners of the bagel were essentially completely bare.
Bagel lacked any chewy texture on the outside and was very bready inside. They were out of everything bagels at 11 AM on a Thursday. The mouth feel was dry, dry, dry. My boyfriend and i didn't even finish half of it. And it was $17, which is more than what we pay for a toasted, fully loaded lox bagel with a small side of pickles and potato salad...in Los Angeles.
If you consider yourself a serious bagel connoisseur I expect you'll be disappointed, as we were.
In addition, they don't serve decaf coffee, which was a big disappointment since some of their latte flavors sounded intriguing. The cafe itself is clean and fairly cute, plenty of seating. Parking was difficult.
Staff was pleasant. No complaints there. But we left and got a decaf latte and a toasted everything at Bruggers for $9 and enjoyed...
