Irie Jamaican Express — Restaurant in Minneapolis

This was my first time coming here and I am sooo impressed! I’m very picky when it comes to my rice and peas and theirs did not disappoint-very soft, tender, and fluffy. There’s also that hint of sweetness which I love. I ordered a small oxtail which came along with the rice and cabbage. Before I placed my order I overheard a patron joke with the chef about them “skimping” on the cabbage. To my surprise it was a bit true! Lol. The flavors were immaculate- the oxtail came with a bit of juice which enhanced the overall flavors of the bowl. All in all, the food touched the lid of the container so I was happy with that, it was more than enough to eat on throughout the day. I also got the fried plantains because duhhh! Those were also really good, super soft and sweet.

I have been to this place about 4 times now and each is better than the last. I have finally got something other than a beef patty. Let me tell you, outside of these two guys being the sweetest and kindest. This food was chef's kiss. I enjoyed this food so much its crazy. The portion size was outstanding freshly cooked. Wow. I frequent the global market and always give every new place a chance. This might be my new favorite (after Arepa Bar has now left). So much flavor, great portions. I got the small jerk chicken and everything was well cooked and seasoned.
