Only street parking available. First come first serve outdoor seating and a queue for indoor. Cute spot from the outside. I’m giving it a one star due to the poor business model setup and lack luster non-vegan food. I ordered the vegan southwest hash and it was fairly good just over priced. My non-vegan companions were unimpressed by the presentation and taste of their breakfast options however (they ordered the Back to Basics and the Hash Brown Rancheros). The wait and dining set up for this place is “modern” I guess. If you want to dine in you come in and give your name and then they seat you inside. If you want to eat outside then you order from the counter, take a number and then go outside and (hopefully) find a seat. I say hopefully because there is not guarantee you’ll get a seat before your food arrives since it takes 1hr+ to get anything. We ordered to-go and it still took that long. I also witness a party of two who arrived before another group of 2 and 4, not get seated first. To me it appears the issue is somewhere in the kitchen setup. Breakfast should not take 1hr+ to make even with a packed house; 30 min max. Due to it having vegan and non-vegan options it feels like they cook everything as it’s ordered and then clear the grill for the vegan options. Not efficient in anyway. Multiple grills or batch cooking would cut time down. If your a hipster, gen Z with no plans for the entire day and money to blow, feel free to frequent this place. I unfortunately wasn’t impressed as I’d hoped to be considering there aren’t many places with a good range of both vegan and non-vegan options for my companions and myself. I’m the only vegan one so I really try to give places like this a shot.

Let me start by saying this is one of our top places to go for an awesome breakfast in Minneapolis. Our last visit I got the daily special of "Lamb of God" which was phenomenal! We have yet to have a bad experience eating at the restaurant other than the fact that it can get quite busy on the weekend and you might end up having to wait a little bit to get a seat. The number of tables is limiting, but understandable since it's not a huge space to begin with. But to get to the brass tacks, I love the variety and quality of ingredients that they use to create their dishes. They have a wide variety of vegan substitute options for those looking for a great eggless breakfast. On top of all of their stellar food performance is superb coffee! I generally always grab an endless dip coffee cup everytime we visit, but we've certainly stopped by more than once to pickup some of their special coffee beverages (shot out to the "Dirty Dancing" beverage if you like horchata)

I have never felt the urge to give a place more than five stars like I feel for this place. I honestly did not know what to expect when I googled vegan restaurant but the fact that they were able to cater so many of my dietary restrictions especially the gluten-free with so many options! I have never felt so at home. I almost wish I could take the entire restaurant back home with me $23 for my meal and had left overs BEYOND DELISH Oh I do also want to point out I am not a breakfast person for the same reason I always struggle to find a place where I can eat that’s gluten-free and has other options outside of eggs which I also don’t eat. Hash browns 100/10 SOO CRISPY AND CRUNCHY GUYS!! Tofu-CRISPY AND CRUNCHY IF SOMEONE TELLS YOU IT CANT BE DONE… they’re lying. Kale- delish 9/10 because eveythjng else was just like a yumgasm Ginger lemonade -100/100 lol I will come back and bring cash YALL FOR TIP!!

Plain, mediocre , bland, overpriced breakfast food. I was visiting town and had a vegan friend with us, so we decided to try this place. It was packed shoulder to shoulder so we decided to sit outside on a picnic table. Food took awhile…everyone’s food was simple and plain, the sausage patties were salty, the cashew spread is plain, the cold brew coffee tasted like rain barrel water but cost $5. I’m convinced only people who don’t know flavor or know how to cook like this restaurant. I wouldn’t so mad about plain and bland food but the restaurant adds fees on top of fees … like operational, dine in, and service?! It’s such a mediocre restaurant with 5 star restaurant fees. How do you add this many fees when we ordered our own food and sat outside and barely got serviced?

I had heard a lot of good things about Modern Times and wanted to check them out for a while. I hadn't been able to go since my partner has a nut allergy that they said would be risky to accommodate. I would say overall that the service is a bit slow and gruff at times. It was very busy for brunch hours, and we were asked to wait outside for our name to be called due to space limitations, which was understandable. Once we ordered, however, it took probably 40 minutes to get our food. Seems the staffing or systems probably struggle to keep up with the volume of guests. The prices are very reasonable, and portions were good. Food was good overall, although I thought the burrito would have been plated when dining in. It was still very good.

The 4 stars are mainly for the food. Our group ordered 4 dishes and all of them were amazing! I especially liked the cabbage salsa. However, the waitstaff was extremely short and rude. When we stood in line to place our order, there were a lot of customizations available to choose from and the person behind the register behaved as if we were inconveniencing her by ordering. After having waited for 50 minutes for our food, when we asked how much longer it would be, the waitress responded with a shrug and 'I don't know that' and did not bother following up or checking. I understand that they were swamped at peak time but that does not excuse the behavior. The excellent food was the only redeeming factor of the whole experience.
