Unfortunately, we had an experience that was not in line with our many previous excursions to Nightingale. My partner and I stopped in for a bite late in the evening. We ordered the bread, because it is generally one of the few vegan options on their late night menu. After the bread arrived, we had several bites each, only to realize that we were eating bacon. Upon realizing this, we immediately flagged down a bartender. We told her there was bacon in the bread, and that we were vegan, and she said, "I'm surprised no one told you about the bacon". I replied by saying, "yeah, I am too...". She stopped me before I could say anything else and stated, "well, you could have asked what the daily bread is or it's posted on the specials board" which by the way, is not made visible from the direction of the bar we were sitting. I told her that I ordered bread because it is often the only vegan option, and she said, "not always. Can I get you anything else?". Noticeably absent from the interaction is any sort of apology or acknowledgement of wrongdoing on her part.
I ordered a replacement, and I paid for that in addition to the meat-laden bread that I refused. Again, no apology. So, in an attempt to make sure no other vegetarians, vegans, Halal or Kosher diners had to endure what I did, I told her that in the future it should be made clear to people that there is meat in the bread or any other special. She said, "you could have asked".
"You could have asked”
This entire situation could have been rectified in several ways, but your bartender chose an unacceptable path. I say that not just because I am a restaurant industry veteran, and not just because my partner is a restaurant owner. I say that because this interaction lacked respect and basic human decency, and was completely absent of the hospitality your restaurant typically exudes.
I reached out to management with a direct email and waited 2 weeks with no response. Needless to say we won’t be returning the this...
Read moreI don’t usually write reviews, but this was necessary. I paid $160 for 3 starters, 2 entrees, and two cocktails. If I had known the quality of the food ahead of time, I wouldn’t have even paid half of that. Started it off with the tartare, which was surprisingly good. Could’ve used a little more lemon, but that’s subjective. Then, we received the mushroom bruschetta and the scallops. Scallops were okay, gazpacho underneath was decent. Can’t really call the mushroom bruschetta a bruschetta IMO; no olive oil, no garlic, and mushrooms were not finely chopped. Despite that tho, the mushrooms tasted liked they had a cup of salt poured on them. They were saltier than a McDonald’s French fry, and that’s saying something. Tho, the salt woes did not end there. I ordered the chicken confit for my entree, and lo and behold, I thought I was gonna die of heart disease. It was so salty that I couldn’t even make it past the first thigh, and I wasn’t even gonna consider touching the saltier than the Dead Sea mushrooms underneath. Oh wait there’s more, my partner ordered the ricotta gnocchi, and I was laughing at this point, because there was no ricotta in sight. A paradoxical name if you ask me, haha. Anyways, quite an unfortunate experience, and I don’t think I’ll ever be going back. It’s a shame though, because it has a beautiful interior and the service was...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I both love frequenting Nightingale for date nights! Everything is always fantastic, from the atmosphere, attentive service, and delicious plates! We always start with a selection of East and West coast raw oysters, priced at $4/each. It’s always made sure of that you have fresh cutlery between courses, smoked olives, water, and a cocktail in hand! We typically are helped out by our two favorite servers at Nightingale Mohamed and Greyson, who nevertheless stop by our table on our visits to say hello, both are extraordinary and never fail to make our dining out extra special. We also love when we see Anna and Shane working! Recently they’ve had some menu switch ups, so we haven’t been able to try all the new items but our favorites remain the Mushroom Bruschetta, Chicken Wings, Grilled Octopus, Hanger Steak, and Steamed Mussels! For drinks we love the Four Horseman, Blood on the Tracks, Coupe D’evil… and trying their rotating cocktail of the moment! When we can we love to stop in on a Monday night for half off bottles of wine (Mohamed always has great wine recommendations!), and Wednesday’s for their famous Lobster Spaghetti! Overall, Nightingale never ceases to exceed our dining...
