Bluestem Bar — Restaurant in Minneapolis

WARNING: Do not stay seated inside for dinner/drinks after 9:30pm even if it's listed that they close at 10:00pm.

Either update your restaurant hours or coach the screaming banshee with black hair who wanted to close early to work on communication and customer service. No, we did not come in last minute (we came in around 8:00pm), and no, we were not going to stay there past 10:00pm.

It was our first time there, so we did not know that the restaurant typically "closes" sooner than what's listed online. We could have been told that ahead of time directly instead of having to deal with some siren questioning "WHY ARE CUSTOMERS STILL HERE?" twice between 9:30pm-9:45pm. We weren't the last ones in the restaurant even.

It was a slap in the face to the both of us because the business already had their money from our $130.00+ tab and then they wanted us to leave before we could even finish our drinks.

The Rueben and fries, server, kitchen staff guy bringing out the food, and bartender were all 10/10. They honestly deserve better. It was just the abrasive hag coming out and zapping all the energy out of the room that left a foul taste in my mouth. I know they won't care, but I definitely will not come...

Restaurant is lovely and comfortable. Waitstaff is efficient and friendly. Trendy but with a welcoming vibe. Food was okay. Not bad. But okay. I had a Apple cheddar salad. Lettuce was chopped too small, apples were too big; and it needed something, like avocado or a starch, some other complexity. My friend had a burger and fries. He got that, but it was simple. I also ordered the sausage to share appetizer which was very very good. Perfect place to have a group out, or even an intimate date. The staff were the best at their job I've seen in a long while. They seemed neither harried, nor indolent. Came at the right moments, said the right things, but still seemed like human beings. Also very good variety of stuff for vegans, and people with gluten allergies, or people who like locally sourced foods. Menu was nice mix of comfort foods and the ambitious. You can bring both your parents and your foodie friend who only eats organic and pretends they are...

Tonight we had a reservation at five. We weren’t approached by a waiter until 5:30. Then it took 20 minutes for him to come back and take our food order, which took until 7:10 to get to us. In the whole time we were here, he checked in with us only 3 times, and a member of my party had to ask for service twice. When the food finally arrived to us, it was cold and missing pieces of the order. We were also approached and then ignored by several people with a water jug multiple times. My glass was empty from 20 minutes into the ordeal until we left. When we arrived, every other table was just as underserved and frustrated, and also given cold and incomplete food. Several of them even spoke to the restaurant’s owner, who met them with somewhat surly responses. And when we spoke to staff about the problems, they made weak excuses instead of correcting the problems. Needless to say, I won’t be coming back until there are some...
