My mom and I often joke about how “Pan es pan” translating to “bread is bread” since we’ve had pan dulce from bakeries all over the twin cities and think they either taste too much like egg, vanilla and/or egg. This panadería was truly the exception! As soon as we arrived going in we smelled the sweet smell of the pan dulce that smelled exactly like the panaderías in Mexico! We got 5 different types of pan dulces to try: yoyo, a croissant, biscuit, cubilete, and a concha. All totaled out to be $8.50 (cash is cheaper than card, they have a 4% service charge). So far we tried the yo-yo and it amazed me how incredibly delicious it was, not overwhelming sweet and was the perfect amount of dense. I would like to return to try their sandwiches. It’s a great local and family owned business that amazed me, a new hidden gem in the Lowry Hill/Whittier...

I am so excited to go back to Papa Chuy’s! I went in for the first time this past week. My friend and I were greeted with exceptional hospitality, and when we explained that we were unfamiliar with their pastries they walked us through every single item, explaining in detail what they were like so we could make an informed decision about what we wanted to order. I got the banana bread, and it was the most delicious banana bread i’ve ever had! I am looking forward to trying the strawberry empanada the next time I go in. I was also thankful that after bringing my jarritos to the back to open it for me, he held the bottle cap on top of the drink until he handed it back to me. That extra care was very appreciated! We were pleasantly surprised by the low cost, but truthfully i’d be back even if the price was 5x...

Highly recommend! It’s a bit hidden at first so look for the signs. The baked goods looked PERFECT so the quality is great. You can tell a lot of attention was put into making them. I have tried many Mexican bakeries in the twin cities and these baked goods might be the best I’ve seen yet. They walked me through every baked good which I appreciated and they were very friendly. They have great prices so you can try a few things.

I have been looking for a good empanada so I recommend that.

There are a bunch of cafes around the area, but if you’re thinking of getting a pastry come here instead!!! I will definitely be back to try...

Highlight of this bakery is their variety of pastries, but they also sell savory meals. The pastries are incredibly tasty, affordable and huge. Prices vary from $1.50 to $3.50. Highly recommend their pastrami or chicken sandwich, the bread is incredibly soft with the perfect amount of crunch - not dense but not a flaky mess. I really liked the dressing on the pastrami, it had the perfect amount of vinegar and mustard. Everything just tasted fresh and bright and the staff were all incredibly nice and helpful. The space looks like a converted unit, features a few small tables for dine in but no outdoor seating.
