I’ve only had good experiences here up until last night, so I want to start by saying that. The quality of the food and ice cream is top-notch, with no complaints there.
As for my most recent visit, I came in around 9:00–9:05 p.m. (they close at 10:00 p.m.) because I’d heard about the late-night burger deal. When my boyfriend and I walked in, we glanced at the menu, and I told him I was going to head to the bathroom before ordering. After just a few steps, the front-of-house worker, Cindy (short, light-colored hair), told me there were “no public restrooms.” This surprised me because 1) I’ve used the bathroom here before, and 2) it’s against the law for a restaurant with sit-down indoor seating to not provide a restroom for patrons.
I figured maybe it was just out of order and decided to place my order first, then go next door to use their restroom (turns out, it wasn’t out of order). While looking at the menu, I noticed the beef patties appeared to have bacon cooked into them. I asked Cindy to confirm, and she tersely said, “Yes.” She didn’t mention that there was an all-beef patty option until I specifically asked, at which point she said, “Yes, for an upcharge.” Why she wouldn’t just offer that information upfront is beyond me. Similarly, why she didn’t just tell me the bathroom was only for paying customers (which I fully intended to be) is equally confusing.
I then asked if I could order one burger as part of the late-night half-off promo and simply pay the extra cost to upgrade to an all-beef patty. She told me that wasn’t allowed — the promo was for a single patty classic burger with “no modifications.” At this point, it felt very clear that I wasn’t welcome there and that no effort was being made to accommodate me or even explain things clearly. It was frustrating, especially because the food here really is great!
To make matters worse, on my way out, I noticed a poster stating that the promotion applied to both the single and double patty burgers — something Cindy failed to mention. I get that everyone has bad days, but basic customer service matters. Why wouldn’t you want someone to feel comfortable at the restaurant you work in?
All I wanted to do was use the bathroom and get a burger, but Cindy made it clear she didn’t want to help in any way. Service jobs are tough, but if being customer-facing isn’t for you, no one is forcing you to take that role.

Read moreBebe Zito is a delightful paradox nestled in Uptown Minneapolis. Though its location—right behind a liquor store and adjacent to a gas station—may raise eyebrows initially, the ambiance dramatically shifts as evening sets in. Don't be deceived by its understated exterior; the majority of its patrons, myself included, are drawn in by the buzz from online reviews.
Parking isn't directly out front, but there are ample spots nearby, ensuring convenience for visitors. Dive into their unique array of ice cream flavors; every scoop is an adventure for the palate. On my visit, the flavors I sampled were nothing short of delightful. They also offer pints to enjoy at home, which is a sweet bonus. And while it may seem out of place, they have a menu featuring burgers and fries. However, during my time there, it seemed the star of the show was undoubtedly the ice cream.
Yet, no place is without its quirks. The staff, while friendly, appeared a bit untrained. Witnessing the server's repeated struggles with scooping, dropping the ice cream, and fumbling with waffle cones detracted from the experience. The final straw was receiving a melted scoop that demanded a hasty transfer to a cup. Proper training seems to be in order.
Furthermore, while I understand the importance of tipping, flipping a tablet to request a tip percentage felt a tad presumptuous, especially given the service hiccups.
That said, the ambiance is undeniably inviting. Whether you choose to lounge indoors or soak up some sun at their outdoor seating, it's a summer-worthy spot. In summary, Bebe Zito offers tantalizing ice creams in an interesting setting. Be prepared for some service glitches, but don't let that deter you from the creamy goodness that awaits. Definitely...
Read moreI visited Bebe Zito today and had a heavenly ice cream experience. I’d previously sampled a few of their flavors via prepackaged pint, but that was my first time stepping into their Uptown location. First of all, the Uptown shop is SO cute. I loved the decor and playlist. It had an effortlessly cool- yet welcoming- vibe. Everyone who worked there was friendly and helpful too. I tried both Romeu e Julieta and The Parent Trap. The ice cream was expensive, but it was worth every cent, in my opinion. If you enjoy big chunks of mix-ins in your ice cream, this will become your go-to spot. The Parent Trap had large pieces of Oreo, and it was the perfect sweet/salty treat. I enjoyed the notes of peanut butter and salted caramel too. It was like eating a high quality version of my favorite childhood cookies- Oreos and nutter butters- paired with the sophistication of salted caramel. The Romeu e Julieta was refreshing and so tropical. I loved the cheese cake vibe, the luxurious guava jam, and the ritz cracker crumbles. I love cheese cake with guava or passion fruit jam, so it really hit the spot. I previously tried their burgers at the Hudson Yards location, and they were delicious. They are a classic and juicy smash burger, and I would recommend those too. I can’t wait to go back to try more flavors...
