A small place packed with some good stuff!
I ordered some banana bread and some hot chocolate and also tried a bit of this blood orange thing (sorry I forgot the name) and it pretty damn good!
I'm gonna be honest, the vibe and aesthetic of the place really stood out for me. The perfect "hipster" place for a coffee and a little snack. That and the staff are very friendly and helpful. With that, the food itself is beautifully presented. Cheers to y'all!
As for food, it was also pretty good. For the most part, almost anything "foody" goes well with their hot drinks. So my banana bread and hot chocolate tasted excellent but not the best thing in the world. Pretty average goodness; nothing special and the price should be toned down a bit. But I was definitely wowwed by this blood orange treat I had. God, I wish I remembered what it was called but it had a satisfying soft and crunchy texture with a GREAT taste. I wish I ordered it! Next time!
I recommend this place. Great place to do work, talk with friends, or just chill with some coffee and a little snack. A little pricey for what I get, but that's just me. The service and "feel" of the whole place definitely...
Read moreI finally made it out to Rustica and honestly, I'm shocked I haven't been here sooner considering how close it is to me!
This cute little cafe is located right on Lake Street near uptown and the best part about it is that there's a huge parking lot! It's right next to a lot of other shops in a shopping center. Free parking = a win in my books.
Onto the setup. It's very streamlined with the pastries in a case right by the entrance and the register right at the end of the case. All the pastries were so pretty & I was staring so hard at them trying to narrow down what to get that I forgot to take a picture of them in the restaurant. Oops.
I ended up narrowing down what to get (with difficulty) - the brioche pastry, the pistachio chocolate one, and the almond paste filled one (not pictured). They were all soooo crispy and flakey on the outside and soft on the inside - as a proper pastry should be. I felt like I was eating at a French bakery. Loved every bite and made me wonder why I didn't come here sooner!
Next time I will have to try their coffee - I bet it pairs well with...
Read moreI visited on a Saturday morning and it was quite busy. I noticed a couple people in the restaurant changed their orders from “for here” to “to go” because they couldn’t find a spot to sit. I really enjoyed the egg sandwich I got, however I was disappointed with my beverage order and savory focaccia. I ordered an oat milk chai and instead received an oat milk latte. When I spoke to the barista he said I received an oat milk latte because it was rang up as such, however it was definitely not what I ordered. They made me a new drink and it was fine, but it was very disappointing to wait for a beverage and then to receive something completely different and have to wait again. The same thing happened to a friend of mine where she placed an order for an iced drink and instead received a hot beverage. The focaccia I received was mainly good, except on the top of the bread, this area was too bitter for my taste (potentially because it was over baked?). Also, for those who plan to study here, just a heads up that there are not many outlets available in the...
