The friendly hostess greeted us right away and our server, Lexi was very attentive, bubbly, and prompt. We were seated right away at 6:30 pm on a Friday night. The menu was quite varied. Lexi checked on us regularly and brought my glass of wine right away. The Mary Taylor Chenin Blanc was perfect. The cheese curds were ok. Just bland and not as crisp as we're used to. Though of course the sauces are there to hide the mildness. The burger itself was good. It was cooked to the pink requested. Nice that it was a steak burger. Nice and juicy and the bacon was nicely cooked. The lettuce was tough, there was so much sauce that it made the bun wet and nasty. Maybe if the bun was more robust or toasted it would have been better. We decided to bring half of it home for the dog. The fries which cost another $2 were so very unremarkably plain, and unseasoned that we joked the chef must have a cold. The lobster bisque was ok. It was my first time trying the bisque. I thought it would be more flavorful and there were large pieces of lobster. It was more sweet and the seafood flavor was very subtle. The house salad was very nice to look at, and the greens were very nice, but once again the flavor was not there. The dressing was heavy on the oil and light on the vinegar, with no herbiness. The tidbits of cucumber, peppers and and chickpeas made it difficult to eat. I think it could use at least a grating of a hard cheese, like Parmesan or Asiago and fresh pepper. Walleye and shrimp cakes were tastier, though the large chunks of shrimp in it were odd with the soft, perhaps underdone walleye, especially in the center. The color and...
Read moreOnly have come here a handful of time to grab brunch with family and/or friends. We've never made reservations ahead of time, but the wait normally averages about 20 minutes for a group approximately of 4 people. They have plenty of seating to accommodate guests who are waiting for a table.
I enjoy a standard breakfast: eggs, bacon, hashies and toast, which would be the American Breakfast order at The Lowry. The Ciabatta French Toast is so good; I like a good bread for my french toast. If you do order the berry french toast, I recommend getting the mixed berry sauce on the side IF you don't like your french toast drenched in sauce. Personally, it's overkill for me, but some might enjoy it that way. The Dixie Chicken Waffle was a flop; it lacked flavor. The Turkey Sandwich wasn't bad, but for $13.50, I wouldn't order it again. I have yet to try dinner there.
Service are normally fun and friendly, but busy. In my experiences, they are always good check up us. The one time we had ordered the Dixie Chicken Waffle, our waitress offered to take the food off of our bill, but we declined. She knew we were a fan of it, and still removed the order off the bill. I thought that was nice.
Parking in Uptown, as Minnesotans known, can be quite a hassle if you're driving into this part of town. Normally there is a large parking lot, that normally has plenty of available spots and some street parking in front/nearby the restaurant. The parking lot is shared with a church. We've never ran into an issue besides one time they had closed off the lot just for members of the church on a Sunday, throwing a curve ball trying to...
Read moreI went in this evening to eat dinner. The food was mediocre at best, the drinks took far too long then they should have, and at the end of the night (what appeared to be) a homeless man came in, harmless to everyone in theory and a table of people inside The Lowry restaurant maced him. Absolutely appalling.
No action was taken in de-escalating the situation to provide a safe environment for all parties. But more importantly nothing was done with the table who used violent force inside a private property restaurant. Instead of treating the gentleman who they assumed was homeless with kindness and helping him in this situation after being aggressively attacked upon entering the restaurant the staff proceeded to laughed and followed up with a loud “GOOD”. The complete lack of care and empathy provided by The Lowry in a situation that could have been handled in a much more humane way is disgusting. This is a company that prides themselves on being hospitable to all, and a staple to neighborhoods. The display I have seen tonight has been all but harmful to this accepting and welcoming neighborhood. The obvious lack of management was not only discouraging to myself as a patron but detrimental to this small knit community that I love so dearly. As a cherry on top of a horrifying evening I asked for a manager and they replied that there wasn’t one there. Thank you to The Lowry for playing a part in terrorizing this man who claims this neighborhood as his home and ruining my faith in humanity.
I’m so severely unimpressed and disappointed in this incident....
