It's very telling that the owners never reapond to any of these reviews on here, it shows they couldn't care less about retaining customers or fixing their mistakes.
Unfortunately there are very few halal spots in Minneapolis and this place was always busy when they first opened so I've opted to order a couple times through doordash instead of going to the restaurant. We decided to come for dinner the other night and found the restaurant deserted which I knew was not a good sign. We were the only ones there when we arrived.
The man working the register didn't even acknowledge us when we approached to place our order. He didnt look up from his phone until I started ordering, so hospitality went out the window right then. We order 2 burgers and an order of wings which we waited about 10-15 minutes for. Despite being the only people besides one other table that came shortly after us, they called out our number and we had to go up to grab our food. The restaurant was also freezing with a/c blasting even though it was a beautiful 65 degrees outside, ny first thought was how fast our food would get cold.
It's was immediately evident by looking at the burgers that they weren't fresh and the cook let them die while waiting for our wings to finish frying. The cheese was barely melted and they were not even warm to the touch. The first bite confirmed the burgers were not fresh, they cooked them well (they didn't ask how we wanted them cooked) and they lacked any seasoning. They were dry as a bone and bland like the cashier. I had to add salt to mine but no pepper was provided.
The bottled beverage I purchased was also disappointing, it wasn't even cold despite having been in the fridge! The bacon on my burger was also cold, it looked and tasted like rubbery turkey baco. It had no color or crisp to it. The only thing that was fresh were the wings I got but they weren't even portioned or cooked the same way I had them the two previous times I got them delivered. The wings I had were breaded and crunchy but these were just fried wings with no batter.
When I went back up to order a side of sauce, I noticed two girls placing an order and could not ignore the fact that the same man who was bland and dry with us, was very animated and friendly with them. What really pushed me over the edge to write this review is that when it was my turn and I requested the sauce, the man went back to his bland self and didnt even say a word to me when I asked for it.
Those same girls ordered two burgers and wings just like we did but instead of calling out their number and having them come to grab their order, that same bland man who took our order brought their burgers out to them at their table with a smile and once their wings were ready, delivered those separately to the table as well....Talk about playing favorites with customers!
We overheard the other table that came after us make a comment on their food being wack and cold as well, one guy didn't even finish his burger but instead threw it in the trash. This place won't last if this is the new normal, which it seems it is, based on reviews. It's a shame because theres so much potential, and there's almost no other halal burger spots in a city with the largest Muslim population in...
Read moreSo I came because of all the good reviews and I was looking for a new burger joint to go to. Funny enough, this place is right next to a five guys. I would say you are better taking your money and appetite there. We ordered “the original skillet” on the menu since we were unsure what to order and it was a new spot. The menu didn’t show any regular fries to order, just fries with toppings on them. We asked if we could order just plain fries. The worker says no and that they just have curly fries and the option for regular fries with toppings(from pictures of reviews, I see people with just plain fries, so either he lied or just didn’t want to serve us plain fries). We order the two burgers and 1 order of curly fries, since he said it was enough for two. It took them about 20 minutes to get us our food and there were only two customers in the place, who were already eating. When we got our food, to say we were disappointed is an understatement. First, the burger itself was shockingly small. The pictures in reviews make it look big but in person, it’s actually small. Second, the portion of fries we got was enough for 1 person, so not the 2 person portion like the worker had said. The burger itself was ok. Two smash patties with a tavern sauce and lettuce and pickles. The buns, although looking plump, were cold and stiff as cardboard. All of that and two drinks for the grand total of $40. I get annoyed when I waste money on bad food and this is one of those times where I was really annoyed. I honestly was wishing I should have just gone with Five Guys next door, but being as I want to give other places a shot, I can only be mad at myself and my curiosity. But now I know and will not be returning. Wish them nothing...
Read moreWe had a good experience at Urban Skillet. It was our first time visiting after seeing it reviewed on TikTok. The store was clean and spacious when we arrived for lunch. I loved the aesthetic of the restaurant, and there is a beautiful mural of the Minneapolis skyline on the wall of the dining space. There is a parking lot directly outside. We ordered a few things to share and sample: skillet fries, original skillet burger, blazin chicken burger, and a honey shake. The skillet fries were sensational! They have several different variations and varieties, and I hope to return to try the brisket fries. The original skillet burger was great, perfectly cooked, well seasoned, and very flavorful. The bun had a great texture. I am personally not a big fan of buffalo chicken flavors, and that's how I would describe the chicken burger. That being said, I did go in for a second and third bite, so there is definitely something to be said for it. If you like buffalo sauce, you will probably like this. The honey shake had a light sweetness and was quite creamy. The employees were friendly and worked efficiently. I also appreciate that the food is halal. While I am not from that culture, it prompted me to do more research into what is halal versus haram, so I learned a little bit in the process. Overall, I would recommend this place! We had...
