It's my first time in Minnesota and Grizzly's has a very enticing menu. You can smell the smoker from quite a distance, it's great. I came in around 8pm and sat in a booth in the bar. The waitresses were friendly, not super attentive, but friendly. I ordered the Wisconsin cheese curds and boy they did NOT disappoint. Only real critique is the shaved parmesan in the pomodoro dipping sauce. It made it way too salty when combined with the curds. Put that aside and you've got a great bite. I ordered the smoked pulled pork platter for dinner with their southwest chicken soup. The soup was confused I think. It really wanted to be clam chowder (taste, texture, mouth feel) There was nothing southwest about it. the baked beans lacked flavor and just had some shreds of pork in it. The coleslaw had major texture issues with its tiny cut pieces. The flavor of the coleslaw was what you expect anywhere else. That corn bread and apple butter was fantastic. Great flavor and texture, it just melts in your mouth. My biggest disappointment however was the smoked pulled pork. It was really dry and over smoked. When you over smoke a meat, you break down the proteins and it becomes mush. Couple that with overlooking it and you just have a disaster on your plate. The BBQ sauce was ok, but the meat was a fail. Overall the service and atmosphere is what will bring me back to try something else on the menu. Hopefully, it'll be leveled up from what I tasted tonight. Update: I actually did move this up to 4 stars after speaking to the manager and the chef. Their receptiveness to constructive feedback was...
Read moreWe ordered two beers and Pork Nachos. Unfortunately, the pork was the worst appetizer I have ever tasted. The cheese was subpar, lacking creaminess and boasting an unappealing texture and flavor. The pork itself was mediocre, not particularly impressive, and the pickled jalapeños were uninspiring. It was evident that the dish had been microwaved. Furthermore, the BBQ sauce, reminiscent of Arby's sauce, seemed to be store-bought rather than homemade. This dish bore little resemblance to authentic nachos, which typically imply Mexican cuisine. We consumed our beverages due to the prolonged wait for our server's return. A manager approached us but promptly diverted their attention elsewhere. Although we never had the opportunity to discuss our concerns with a manager, our server did not charge us for the Nachos, only for the beverages we had specifically ordered to pair with the food. I am uncertain whether I will dine at Grizzlies again. If this is the level of effort they invest in a simple appetizer, I question their ability to deliver a satisfactory main course. Restaurants like Grizzlies seem to thrive in St. Cloud due to the low expectations for quality. I wonder if there are any establishments in the area that demonstrate ambition, pride, and a commitment to serving high-quality cuisine. Thus far, I have not found any. Only a few local bars have met the minimal expectations for food prepared by a sandwich chef and service provided by bartenders and cocktail waitresses, who consistently exceed the standards set by the chef, cooks, and leadership...
Read moreGreat food great friendly service great salad selection and for the quality of their steaks it's a great deal. They could get more desert selections tho 😉. You can even sit and eat on the outside patio around the fire.
So I love the food and every time I've went with a companion service is also great. But I have went here 4 times on a Saturday each time and always more towards kitchen close due to my work schedule. But they choose when their kitchen closes because 1st time I went alone they said kitchen close at 10:45pm for last call for food than I went the next Saturday at 10:30 exactly and he said kitchen close at 10:30pm. Let's just say I have never eaten here alone. My personal opinion is they don't like my look and when I'm alone they must feel some type of way. Because any other restaurant I have ever went to in my entire life if they kitchen close at 10:30 and you get there at 10:30 and already know what you want to order they would serve you so this place definitely turned down business quite often at least in my experience I will leave their stars the way it is due to the fact that I love their food and like I said when I am with a companion great service. But don't think I'll ever be going back alone or not. Lazy workers if you ask me I mean your open till midnight but won't let me order at 10:30pm. I mean he didn't even say do you know what you want right away because the kitchen is closing just nope sorry kitchen's closed 1030 I look at my phone and it just turned 1030 literally I watched it turn from 29 to 30...
