This was for 2 adults, 3 kids. Our waitress was Jillian according to our receipt. She was very inattentive from the start, barely checked on our table at all, but saw her standing around in her phone a few times. The restaurant was not busy at all, especially for a Friday night. I've worked food service before, I try to be very understanding. She would start to take our drink order, and then got distracted by the table behind us. Ok no big deal, I get it. I ordered 2 kids drinks, 3 adult drinks, since my oldest is 12. She brought out a full sized cup for my 7 yr old. Again, ok no big deal. I ordered both my smaller kids the pizza, 1 with mozzarella sticks and the other strawberries and yogurt. When that was brought out, the yogurt was sitting in water and fries were brought out instead of the mozzarella sticks. I mentioned this to her, she said I said fries when I know for a fact I said mozzarella sticks. First of all she didn't even write down our orders, and took my oldest son's food to the table behind us at first. Then she offered to add mozzarella sticks to our order instead of making the order right. The fries on my oldest son's plate were not hot and seemed kinda stale like they'd been sitting. I had my bf try one too, he said the same. We ordered 2 appetizers, wonton chicken tacos and spinach artichoke dip. The chips brought out with the dip were mostly crumbs, I had to ask for a second order of chips. With the tacos, they were cold and we didn't have the serving plates or napkins. I can do without the plates, but napkins at least. My bf got up to grab a couple of smaller ones that looked like they were meant for alcoholic beverages. When she refilled my drink, she took the same cup with my straw still in it and refilled the same cup, WITH MY STRAW STILL IN IT instead of just bringing a fresh cup like they normally do when you go to a sit-down restaurant. Because cross contamination. I didn't bother drinking it. She failed to bring silverware and napkins until I asked. My youngest used a fork with her yogurt. The drink refill incident was the last straw. I just asked for to go boxes and the check. $71.65. I did explain everything to her. The offer of a discount was offered by her. She said she spoke to her manager, and normally if that were the case, they would come out to speak to you. Either way, I declined the discount because that's not what I wanted. I wanted better service, for it to be made right. The overall situation was subpar and half-a*sed. I try my best to not complain because I know what it's like in service, but it just kept getting worse. I won't be back to the Mishawaka location. Day of visit was 7/12/24 between...
Read moreOh man, can you get lower than 1 star? If so give that award to applebees. I realize they are moving back to the " comfort food " business model after the failure of smaller portioned/healthy options but coming back to that clientele you have to do it better than everyone else and Applebees falls flat on their face. I admittedly have written applebees out of my regular restaurant rotation because well, they inevitably fail to meet expectations. I was lured on with the all you can eat ribs chicken and shrimp promo. First problem, not even seated and I am beginning to suspect trouble. Many empty tables and a huge crowd waiting. After listening to the secret conversations that the hostess and manager keep having I hear the kitchen is way behind and the have to stall people from being seated. Ok fine. I am already 40 minutes into a wait that was only supposed to be 20 minutes but I want all you can eat ribs/shrimp/chicken so I'll tough it out. Get seated order food. So far so good. Get food. My wife and I order different all you can eat items so we can diversify. Here is where applebees loses me. The shrimp is way super chewy, the batter is no where near crispy and you know it's cheap because there are no tails on them. I would have been better off buying some gas station shrimp and putting them in the microwave. So being a glutton for punishment I re-order the shrimp, just to see if the second order is also terrible. It is. To top it off our waitress spends the majority of the time talking to some friend of the family a few tables away so it is pretty much impossible to ever get her attention. I will give applebees an A+ for their french fries. Those are always delicious. For everything else. Fail. The corporate headquarters should eat at Fridays a few times to get a idea of how restaurant food should...
Read moreFood is usually pretty bland, but that seems to be the Applebees way. Occasionally I have gotten a dish that's pretty good. This location in particular had horrendous service the both (and only) times we've went. Last time my Brother and I waited 10mins before our server came. Then another 10mins for our drinks (water & iced tea). Our appetizer came 25mins later after ordering, then our entrees like 3-5 mins later. The entire time we couldn't get a drink refill to save our life. I was literally eating ice. We never seen our server again after our app came (another employee brought out entrees btw), so we couldn't get our check to pay. Finally after 10+mins after we had finished, I flagged another employee down and she got our server to finally drop our check. (Absolutely no pre-bussing btw... every used dish was still in front of us and still no refill, my ice was gone at this point too:)) He dropped the check and ran off so fast I couldn't hand him it back with my card. We waited another 5+mins and decided to pay at the tablet on the table bc he(our server) was never to be seen again. I would be more empathetic if we came at a busy time, but this was quite late in the evening and they were slow. Maybe 15 customers in the entire restaurant tops. We were clearly our servers only table. I have been a bartender and server for many establishments in many cities so I have sympathy for servers, but this was flat out unacceptable. My Brother and I were shocked at the service we had recieved. I still felt bad I only left 10% which for me that is like bottom of the barrel worst service ever tip. I have no issue at all tipping 30% for good service, but this was BAD. Good thing they had the trivia on the tablet to occupy alot of...
