Please immerse yourself in the entirety of this narrative, my friends, as to understand our full experience.
The libations and atmosphere held a certain allure that resonated deeply. Nestled at the bar, my wife and I found ourselves in the delightful company of Jim throughout the evening—a masterful purveyor of cocktails who exuded a palpable pride in his craft.
Embarking on our culinary journey, we commenced with a selection of appetizers. The steak tartare, emerged as a contender for my personal favorite in Missoula. The kale and Brussels salad, an exquisite symphony of flavors, claimed its place as my second favorite in town, trailing only behind The Patio's warm kale salad. Without a doubt, these delights shall grace our palates upon our return, although the allure of exploring other offerings is undeniable.
Alas, the zenith of our gastronomic adventure stumbled upon an unexpected detour with the evening's special—a tantalizing ensemble of house-made pasta and lobster. Regrettably, both elements arrived on our table in a state of overindulgence. A courteous request for a remake was met with understanding from the staff, yet fate intervened as the newly implemented POS system wreaked havoc, leaving us bereft of the promised redo.
Jim's unwavering attentiveness and diligent follow-ups softened the blow. The manager, whose name eludes my memory, emerged to extend a personal apology for the inconvenience. Admirably, the entire ordeal was navigated with the utmost professionalism—a gesture that did not go unnoticed. Though offered a gracious compensation of complimentary entrées or a selection of appetizers, our canine companion beckoned us homeward, and we graciously declined.
In reflection, the evening unfolded as a delightful tapestry of pleasantries, with commendations bestowed upon the entire staff. The minor hiccup encountered was just that—a minor disturbance in the otherwise harmonious symphony of our experience. Anticipation lingers for our future rendezvous with Pangea, where culinary delights await...
Read moreMy son wanted to go there for his birthday dinner. We were seated right away and things looked promising. We ordered drinks but they took a long time in coming. The severs at the bar seemed to get orders confused or perhaps the system just doesn't work smoothly. We did get our drinks after a bit and decided to order an appetizer to split. Again a long wait. Ordered dinner and again a long wait. There were only 2 cooks in the kitchen so that is a good excuse for the workers but a poor one for a restaurant. The server came by an dropped a stack of 4 plates and silver ware on the table. I guess we are supposed to pass that around boarding house fashion. When we were done with the appetizer we had to stack the dirty dishes on the side, no one came by to pick them up. When the dinner arrived the server stood in one spot and handed the plates across the table, again in boarding house fashion. The server disappeared so quick I couldn't ask for salt, pepper or water all around. No "will there be anything else that I can bring you" - NOPE.
Bottom line - Hey - the food was OK but the service Well not so. Missoula has no training for servers. As a waiter I was taught - serve from the right and pickup from the left. Also make certain the customer is happy when served and asking if anything more is needed. I always picked up a plate or removed a dish without being asked to do so. As a restaurant can't you spend a few minutes a week teaching people how to do their job better. Most roadside Montana Bars do better than this.
Food B- OK but not memorable Service D+ poor people, they don't know what they are doing
That's my 2 cents worth. I'll have to give it a second try, maybe at Happy Hour. I really want to like the place but the service reminds me of the Iron Horse -...
Read morePangea has reinvented itself 3 times in the past five years. We had our first meal since the “new” chef and latest incarnation. Anniversary and birthday dinner! Our overall experience was disappointing on every level. We had a reservation. Upon being greeted at the front desk we were to be taken to a high table. All four of us don’t like to sit at high tables. There were many available low tables but the hostess (who needs more training) said there was one low table available in the “back corner”. She stated that all the others were reserved. We wondered if those reservations requested low tables? She said we could sit outside. Not the elegant $260 dinner seating we expected having made a reservation but we said okay. She said seat yourselves and some one will be right with you. We squeezed into a spot and sat at a dirty table. The busboy brought water and put it on the dirty table. We said you need to clean this table first. Oh okay was the response. They wiped down the table at our request. The outdoor seating has zero ambiance, loud cars are whizzing by. Not at all a fine dining experience. Overflow seating! The food was just okay. Nothing deserving of any praise or awards. The cocktails were good. Such an expensive and disappointing evening. It’s lovely inside and we were looking forward to a total upscale experience with great friendly service like we have had there in the past. Not happy. Used to really enjoy going there. Our reception was cold and not caring, Our food was not hot or really great. Expensive and mediocre. Nothing special. Huge disappointment. Won’t be back...
