I was visiting some friends who live in the area and we stopped by Plonk upon arrival and then one last time before I flew home...they were fantastic...
The contemporary rustic themed restaurant is attractive and makes for a very nice dining experience. There's a full sized bar downstairs and we were fortunate enough to have nice weather to dine on the rooftop on both visits. Our server was fantastic with keeping the drinks fresh, waters filled and helpful with the menu. We didn't get her name but it was the very friendly Asian girl taking care of tables in the patio. I sampled multiple dishes and cocktails during both my visits and here's everything I enjoyed..
Korean BBQ fries with tamari glazed pork. This was a favorite dish for everyone to pick at along with their main dishes. Green Garlic Hummus - Fresh af hummus. Pork Steam Buns - The pork shoulder was tender and melted in your mouth. charcuterie board - Solid from top to bottom. A full roll of bread that paired well with the 3 meats and 3 cheeses that came with the board. Portions were generous enough for two people to share.
salma hayek - jalpeno infused tequila margarita that was tasty. G.F.C. - ginger vodka, basil, fresh lemon lime. This was my favorite in house cocktail here. Refresing and creative, definitely give it a try. Coconut Lime Rickey - a little too sweet for me but if sweet cocktails are your things, this one is good to go.
Plonk is a very stylish foodie restaurant that would have it's place in any major city along with other hip restaurants. I'm sure i'll be visiting here again on my next visit to...
Read moreMy better half took me there for my birthday on a Tuesday. It was our first time being at Plonk. We arrived around 4:30 and went upstairs to the patio and found a comfortably placed table by a beautiful wall covered by vines and ivy. (Glad we arrived early because the patio filled quickly.) Drinking water (more on that later) was poured quickly and our cocktail order taken. We arrived during H.H. and the drinks (Montgomery Distillery) were very nice and refreshing. As an app we ordered the fish sticks. Wow...From the first bite on.. great texture and flavor, especially with the sauces! Next we had the Ceasar. Ohh...Fresh, lemony, and a few twists that made it very fun (grapes and nori powder)! For entrees we split (as we did did with all plates) the scallops and the tartare. Every bite was scrumptious! The scallops with the sea beans (and sea bean sprouts) were fantastic and done to perfection. The tartare was served on a burnt toast and was perfect vessel for the dish. Tender and flavorful is an understatement. After dinner cocktail was an Espresso Martini. Must try! Ben came by our table and made us feel very welcome. Oh the drinking water...! Their filtration system is amazing and results in delicious water. You really won't believe it till you try it. Pretty sure I had 10 glasses worth, which means the staff was definitely on point. Our server was super and it was an evening to remember. Highly,...
Read morePlonk should have been 5 stars. Truly. I’m an out of towner who has eaten there half a dozen times over the past few years when I visit friends in the Bitterroot Valley. The cauliflower steam buns? I could eat just that & be happy. The Korean BBQ fries? Crispy! Salty! Creamy kimchi goodness dip! The cauliflower agro dolce? Heaven in a bowl. The wine list? Extensive & excellent (my latest glass, a Skins Field Recordings orange). My only critiques: the mushroom risotto needed more mushrooms, and some crunch; perhaps some fried shallots? But more mushrooms? Most def. And finally- and this has been consistent with every visit I’ve made…replace your pastry chef. I’ve not had a ringer- either with the classics (crème brûlée, chocolate torte cake, a streusel) or the adventurous ones (most recently, the orange creamsicle cheesecake. Too much pith in the cheesecake. The flavor was flat, and it was much harder in texture than it needed to be). Seriously, Plonk, I like a tawny port to pair with my dessert, not to cleanse the palate. Level up the dessert game, and you’ll get...
