The Stables — Restaurant in Missoula

The Stables in Missoula exceeded all of our expectations during our recent visit with our party. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional—our server was incredibly accommodating, especially when I needed to adjust our reservation from 4 to 5 people last minute. The entire dining experience was impeccable.

We indulged in a variety of dishes: the steak, cooked to absolute perfection; tender lamb; flavorful mahi mahi; a fresh asparagus platter; and a delicious beet and burrata salad. The aguachile was a refreshing, vibrant surprise, and we enjoyed sampling eight of their handcrafted drinks, all of which were expertly balanced.

For dessert, we shared the flourless chocolate cake and the skillet cookie—both decadent and the perfect sweet ending to an already amazing meal. Every dish was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious.

What truly set The Stables apart was the impeccable service and attention to detail. As someone who works at a Forbes top-rated restaurant and hotel, I recognize luxury and top-tier service, and this place delivers on both fronts. Are you an adult trying to get some god damn peace and quiet?! Here you go! Sit in front of the enormous windows looking out at people hustling in the street and take a deep enough inhale to engage your parasympathetic nervous system and let that gorgeous sip of goldeneye Pinot dance a tango down your throat to set the stage for the appetizer. Might I suggest the clams? Then get ready for literally anything for an entree - it’s just…trust! I’m needing lamb-sorry Mary. Okay another deep breath————DESERT———— I’m straight smitten with the merange. This desert is getting so spendy- I need to call my lawyer to amend my will as I’d like to be buried with it so that I can go to the next life with that met in your mouth passion fruit delightfulness. I could endure a lot of heartbreak if I knew this pot of gold would be waiting at the end of the rainbow. My wife and I were super excited to spend our wedding anniversary here. The food was pretty pricey, but expected for the "uppity" vibe. My salmon was perfectly cooked, as was my wife's prime new York steak. We ordered a lot of food, so we assumed we would be leaving with lots of leftovers. After our meal and pleasant dining experience, the waiter even offered to box up the remainder of our dishes. I've never had someone box our leftovers for us, and now I certainly will never again. Later, upon opening said boxes of leftovers, I realized we were missing the "spreads" to our bread and spreads appetizer. (In fact, now that we think about it, we never got any spreads. Only a small dish of house butter.) In our leftover container, we only had the hardened bread. Furthermore, my entree, as well as my wife's, were completely void of any sauce or remaining veggies.
