I recently learned that I really enjoy Mediterranean and Greek food. Particularly the Hummus! So after seeing the pictures of Hummus in some of these reviews, I was really excited to try it out. I ordered the chicken shawarma that came with a side of rice, hummus, and salad. Luckily, this time around I did think to take pictures of the food before eating, so I will be including them below.
Chicken The chicken was vibrant and you could just tell that it was going to taste good. 🤌It was very flavorful but not overwhelming or salty. It was a little on the dry side but perhaps its supposed to be like that. Either way, I didn't mind. The occasional charred bits on the chicken really helped give it a smoky flavor that I enjoyed.
Hummus It was delicious, a little more on the tangy side compared to other hummuses that I've had but it was good. It was creamy and had a bit of a grainy texture that I really liked. I personally enjoy experiencing different textures in my food but if you're someone who is put off by certain textures, you've been warned.
Salad The salad had feta cheese, letuce, and an olive on top. Wasn't a big fan of the olive as it was very acidic but i could remove it so no big deal. But the rest of the salad was simple and good.
Rice The rice tasted good. It had a gentle flavor that I don't know how to describe but it paired well with its sticky texture. It paired well with the other items on the plate.
The atmosphere The restuarant is beautiful inside. I especially enjoyed the little music that they were playing. It helped set a peaceful/chill tone.
The staff My boyfriend I were greeted from the moment we walked in. The staff are very nice and attentive. It felt like they really cared that we enjoyed our time there.
Overall this is a great restuarant. I look forward to coming again. I did see on their menu that they have a few desert items, so I'll come back to try...
Read moreFood is average and a bit over priced for what you get. Shawerma I tried was over salty due to some pickle or maybe extra salt sprinkled on it. Shawerma it seems is not off a rotating vertical skewer and didn't taste like one either. Hummus was a bit too thin and runny probably made in a blender with added water to save time and effort. Kafta kebabs and rice that came with it was good but again I feel it is over priced. This is probably the only Greek/Lebanese restaurant I have visited that did not have olive oil on the table and also didn't have Tobasco or any hot sauce. But the worst thing was that I was charged extra for a very small pot of chilli sauce. I sincerely hope this restaurant improves its prices, menu and not charge for basic condiments and seasonings. Otherwise I am afraid they won't last for long with the current product they have to offer. Service and ambiance is good and the only positive I carry from this place today. Also I asked if the food was Halal and our server said it is. I am not sure though as I didn't see any Halal certificate. P.S: I am happy that the owner responded back and noted my comments above. Being born and raised in Middle East and lived in Cyprus and Turkey, I ofcourse can tell a good authentic hummus and Shawerma from average one. My criticism above is to point out definite areas of improvement than can easily be done atleast from quality and authenticity of food and what other similar restaurants are offering in Houston. I didn't try all their food on the menu and looks like some of their other stuff is quite good and I hope to try those and give my honest review again, hopefully...

Just had an incredible meal at Cafe Petra Greek & Lebanese Restaurant! This place is a true gem.
The lamb shank was fall-off-the-bone tender and perfectly seasoned with aromatic Mediterranean herbs. The chicken and gyro combination was juicy and well-marinated with amazing depth of flavor.
Everything tasted incredibly fresh - from the crisp vegetables to the vibrant herbs. You can taste the quality in every ingredient. This is authentic, thoughtful cooking that truly honors Greek and Lebanese culinary traditions.
The desserts were the perfect sweet ending - beautifully crafted and not overly sweet.
What really made the experience special was the outstanding hospitality. Owner Mo was fantastic - his passion and genuine care for every guest really shows. Our server Knowledge provided excellent service with great recommendations and made sure we felt completely taken care of.
