Baumhower's Victory Grille — Restaurant in Mobile

Feb. 6, 2020 @ 6pm. My boyfriend ordered the Fried Mozzarella as a starter, The Gooey Wing Finger Bowl for himself and I ordered the Caribbean Grilled White Fish.

Our server, Darrin aka "Deon", was very friendly and professional. He made sure to pay attention to detail when suggesting for us to wait a few minutes between ordering the starter and our meal so they wouldn't come out at the same time giving us an opportunity to enjoy the Fried Mozzarella. Darrin checked up on us frequently during our starter and main course with perfect timing and without seeming to be overbearing with constant interruptions.

At one point during our meal the Manager, Chris, stopped by our table to ask my boyfriend if he was enjoying his meal. To his reply, he thoroughly enjoyed it. He was very pleasant during the conversation. My only quirk is to make eye contact to all sitting at the table since there's more than one person at the table. This is not a deal breaker, but it is one to take into consideration when approaching a table with more than one patron, partially if everyone is eating at the table.

As for my meal, the Carribean Grilled White Fish will be my recommendation for all to taste. The Lemon-peppered Jamaican jerk-seasoned grilled white fish was perfection. I'm glad they served the tropical mango salsa on this side, but this may be enjoyed as a topper by anyone that may enjoy a little spice. The broccoli was properly steamed and the wild rice, although seasoned well, seemed to have a slightly heavy buttery flavor.

Overall, the meals were fantastic, they arrived to our table in a timely manner, we were serviced very well and the atmosphere was enjoyable. I would most definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends and family and I will return again. My "pro tip", ask for Darrin aka "Deon" to be your server. He will make sure everything goes smoothly for you.

Only giving this two stars because there have been maybe one or two times we have visited with no issues. The last 3 times we have gone to visit we didn't even get to eat. The first time was that there would be a long wait for 2 people when they only had literally 5 tables set. The second time was the same issue, only they had a whole section empty. The third time we went in we were asked by the hottest to wait while she looked at the searing chart, 20 minutes later with no update a different server or hostess or whatever she was came and took the seating tablet and headed to the back of the restaurant where she then proceeded to sit at a bar and do nothing. Their service has always been iffy, there's been two servers there that we actually genuinely enjoy and the rest are rude and act like we're such a burden. The food is a hit and miss. Sometimes the wings are delicious and have sauce, other times they're burnt and dry. I've encountered burnt food on 3 separate occasions. A few of the booths have torn/ripped seats and they are so uncomfortable. When we lived across the bay we would visit the one in daphne often and had no issues with their service or food. We primarily eat at the Daphne location. We've never had a problem at that location and our service has ALWAYS been very great! Today was definitely different. We went to the Airport Blvd location. The hostess at the front door was amazing! She was incredibly sweet and inviting. Our waitress on the other hand was pretty rude. I understand everyone is short handed and it's tough. But you don't roll your eyes and blow your breath when your customer asks you for something. It's not like we asked her for much. She came to our table maybe 3 or 4 times while we were there. The lady who brought our food asked if we needed anything. We said yes a few packs of mayo. She said well you have 2 packs on your table. I needed it for my fries, my husband needed it for his royal rooster and my daughter needed it for her burger. I don't think that's gonna cut it. She disappeared and never returned. Our waitress finally brought it back about 15 minutes later. My fried were cold by then. Oh and when did the fries change? I legit go to Baumhower's for the curly fries and extra seasoning. They didn't feel us the fries had changed or anything. Idk, this trip wasn't great. I doubt we go back to...
