I was treated so poorly by your staff that I will never return. You absolutely ruined my birthday. You were my favorite restaurant, I chose specifically to drive 1.5 hours to celebrate at your facility.I am embarrassed to have a disability that I can not handle by myself. My blood sugar drops to dangerous levels despite my insulin, and I have gone into a diabetic coma and almost died, prior to purchasing a trained service dog who can smell when my blood sugars are low. It takes courage to go into public and try to have a somewhat normal life. Your staff shamed me for being disabled by lecturing me for many minutes in a lobby in front of others on exactly how my dog needed to behave under your perceived guidelines prior to even seating me, then by seating me at the furthest table away, by telling me my dog had to be under the table and he needs to be at my side to smell my sugars, by not allowing him to sit in his dog bed, by checking on me 3 times without a polite word or smile but instead just caring that your rules were followed. I’m hoping you have never had to experience discrimination and that you have never been treated so negatively.
These are the ADA rules for a service animal: Under the ADA, service dogs in restaurants must be housebroken and under the handler's control, typically on a leash or harness. They should be well-behaved, meaning they shouldn't bark excessively, growl, jump on people, or wander off. They should be with their handler at all times and ideally remain at the handler's feet or under the table, out of the way of other patrons and staff. Restaurants are not required to provide food or water for the dog, but may offer if they choose, after checking with the handler. Key ADA Requirements for Service Dogs in Restaurants: Controlled Behavior: Service dogs must be trained to behave appropriately in public settings. This includes not being disruptive, such as barking excessively, growling at other patrons, or jumping on people. Leash/Harness and Control: Service dogs should be leashed or harnessed, and the handler should maintain control over the dog at all times. Under the Table/Out of the Way: Ideally, the service dog should be situated at the handler's feet or under the table, out of the way of other patrons and staff, according to Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs and Restaurant Owner. No Feeding from the Table: Service dogs should not be fed from the table or allowed to sniff at the table or other patrons' tables, according to Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs. Not Allowed on Furniture: Service dogs are not allowed on chairs or in booths, according to Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs. Not Required to Offer Food/Water: While restaurants may offer water, they are not required to provide food or water for the service dog. Not Required to Demonstrate Skills: Staff cannot ask the handler to demonstrate the dog's skills, according to Service Dog Certification. Reasonable Modifications: Restaurants must make reasonable modifications to their policies to accommodate service animals. Important Considerations for Restaurant Staff: Awareness and Training: Restaurants should train their staff on how to properly acknowledge and accommodate guests with service animals. Proper Signage: Restaurants should display appropriate signage differentiating service animals from pets. Don't Ask for Documentation: Staff cannot ask for documentation (such as a doctor's note or identification card) to verify the service animal's status. Don't Inquire About Disability: Staff cannot ask about the handler's disability, according to Service Dog Certification. Focus on Behavior: Staff should focus on the dog's behavior rather than the handler's disability. If a Service Animal is Disruptive: If a service animal becomes disruptive, the staff should speak with the handler and request that the dog be brought under control or removed from the premises,...
Read moreI went here for lunch with my boyfriend and we thought it was interesting and so upon arrival I thought it was weird it was in a medical building, but it was fine. My bf asked for patio seats and we were seated outside. The view was AMAZING and all the wildlife there was great!! There were many types of birds and one that I adoringly named Stilts because his legs looked like such. My bf and I fed him tortilla chip crumbs. Upon reading the menu I was happy to find that there were so many vegetarian options!! I ended up ordering the chimichanga and my bf got the carne asada. When the food arrived it looked good and the chimichanga tasted really good and was filled with black beans and cheese. The slaw was sorta warm feeling like it sat out on the counter all day and was finally served though it had good flavor. The rice was dry and lacked flavor and the tostada bowl full of black beans felt like they just took the beans from the can and heated them up unseasoned and bland. The carne asada was small but my bf said it was good. And after we were done the waiter asked if we wanted any desserts. My bf asked what they had and the waiter started naming off things like fried ice cream, churros, and chimichanga cheesecake. What!? Chimichanga cheesecake? So we ordered that. Now my bf was not big on cheesecake from the jump, but I slowly got him to like it. After this chimichanga cheesecake I do not know, I might have to try to get him back into it again. First off the idea is solid and it is the lack of execution that gets me. If you are gonna market something as a cheesecake IT BETTER TASTE AND FEEL LIKE A CHEESECAKE!! This did neither. The taste of the ice cream and whipped cream were fine, the cheesecake itself was horrible and nasty. It tasted like someone took a block of frozen cream cheese that was not Philadelphia and had gone sour and shoved it into a flour tortilla and deep fried it till it tasted burned. It was gross. I took two bites to make sure and it was gross. Do you want me to show you what a cheesecake should taste like? I like the idea and the amount of vegetarian options, but it is poorly executed and lacks real flavor or resemblance to cheesecake. I am not rushing back to this place and will probably just try to make my own chimichanga cheesecake soon. Thanks for the location and the nature. Also, the people there talk to much and too loud. Other customers that is,...
Read moreWe'd been in once before and had a great experience, so we came back today. We sat on the patio, and probably hung out at our table for 10-15 minutes before anyone greeted us. We were about to leave. We were finally brought chips, salsa and water, and my husband asked for our server. The person giving chips I think went to find her. No apology, not friendly whatsoever. We ordered drinks and when they came back, mine was obviously incorrect, and my husband's was supposed to be a virgin margarita, was some weird concoction that was absolutely not - served in an ice cream dish. I walked my drink to the front because I knew we'd never see our server again, and the manager promptly and warmly fixed it. I did not love the marg, and didn't end up finishing it.
We ordered, the food came, and our server shoved the stuff out of the way on the table, including the salsa which knocked over, with the plates to make room. She basically shoved the plates on the table and walked off, then turned back momentarily and said "Oh, is there anything else?" mumbled about enjoying our meal and walked off. She was just generally rude. We did not see her again until she dropped the check.
I found something weird in my food that looked like plastic. My husband took to the manager who said it looked like tomato peel or something, but it was clear and in a weird shape, so who knows. The food was disappointing and not what I remember. Maybe they were not expecting the business because of the nice weather, I have no idea.
We did have a super friendly second guy stop buy to refill our chips. We could see the table next to us had prompt service and their guy was super friendly.
Our check came, the manager did send us a dessert which was kind, but honestly the service overall was just so awful, it completely ruined the experience.
The manager is the reason for the two stars. Hands down, someone who cares about his customers and business. He was very friendly and so nice with each thing.
Hope it goes better for other guests, but I'm not sure...
