We travel a lot, and we eat out a lot. During one of my support visits to the area, I decided to bring the family out to eat. My wife chose this place because their online presence suggests that they had a salad bar. I realize salad bars are going away, and there was no salad bar here. It actually looked like the interior could use a major update can we sat down for dinner. We found the food to be good, nothing special, but it was good. Unfortunately the service we got that night was horrible. When we were done eating we were ready to go and the waitress was talking with a couple on the other end of the room for over 15 minutes. Although this may sound like an exaggerated amount of time, it was easily 15 minutes. I actually stood up and made it very apparent that we were ready for our check, but this didn't get anyone's attention. Luckily for us, they were getting ready to close and someone of authority walked out to get her attention and told her to get close up her guests. On a side note, when I went to the bathroom I saw that a spider was building a nest over the sink. Not sure how long it's been since the walls were cleaned, but the spider may have been there at least a day. They were absolutely no towels to wipe my hands and that made me concerned. I'm not sure if employees use this bathroom or if they have their own. Nonetheless it made me very concerned. Please don't take my review as a reason not to stop here, everyone's experience is different. As I said the...
Read moreMy husband and I go to Sal’s fairly regularly. Tonight we arrived and the restaurant was very full. However there was a set of tables bunched together as if waiting for a large party. We asked the waitress if she could split up the tables as there were multiple groups waiting to be seated. Her response was no because we don’t know if a large group might come in. One couple left and we and another couple ended up waiting almost a half hour for a table. Fast forward to halfway through our meal and a group of 6 people come in. At this point the waitress splits up the tables seating 6 people and leaving one table empty. Keep in mind, these tables were empty when we arrived, were empty halfway through our meal, and one table remained empty when we left. I felt it was very poor customer service and was very...
Read moreI have lived in Monroe for 33 years and have on very few occasions eaten at Sal’s. I do not understand why this restaurant was not on my radar. We ordered food because we had a gift certificate and I was working late. My dinner was simple, a salad with prosciutto olives mozzarella and more and escarole and bean soup. It was very good, real Prosciutto de Parma, ❤️ My husband had chicken française and that was excellent and plentiful! I am so impressed with the quality of the food, the quantity and the price. We have paid up to $22 for that same dish and although good did not even compare to Sal’s. No wonder why they have stayed in business all these years. I was looking for a place where I could order from frequently without paying ridiculous prices, I found it! Now, I hope you make a good mussel...
