It was our first time at Moe's, and everyone was super friendly even though we didn't really know what we were doing. I like it enough and dislike the Monroeville Chipotle enough to write a detailed review for others to decide where to go. I have eaten a good bit of Chipotle over the years, and this is how I'd compare it:
Rice: cilantro lime rice was fluffier at Moe's vs. Chipotle which I've found can be more "wet/sticky" Meat: waaay more options at Chipotle. Enjoyed adobo chicken at Moe's Beans: black beans no difference Fajita veggies: Moe's uses green peppers and white or yellow onions vs. red onions at chipotle. I think Moe's goes through more fajita veggies because they were much fresher than what I typically get at chipotle Queso: Moe's is waaaay better than Chipotle's. It's not runny. Not spicy at all if you're not into that. Salsa: Moe's has a free salsa bar with I think 6 options in the lobby. I loved the mild one with garlic. Pico at Chipotle is great too. Chips: Moe's gives you free chips. The chips weren't salty at all vs. the chipotle chips that are and can sometimes be too salty. I'd prefer a happy medium. Adding queso/guac: adding either at Moe's is $1.50. at Chipotle adding queso is $1.45 and guac is $2.60. However based on the nutrition facts $1.50 of guac at Moe's is 53 calories while $2.60 at Chipotle is 230 calories....so I'm pretty sure you're getting significantly more guac at Chipotle assuming it's perfectly portioned Misc: corn salsa at chipotle is a little more flavorful. Moe's uses a shredded cheese blend so it's yellow and white vs. just white at chipotle (sorry I don't know what kinds). Moe's also has a bunch of special sauces to get drizzled on your stuff which was cool to me. Didnt notice anything else notable. Restaurant: someone was actually cleaning the lobby at Moe's which doesn't seem to happen anywhere, especially not the Monroeville Chipotle. We sat down at a booth after a man cleaned the table, and he asked if he could come back and sweep the floor under it so we didn't get food on our shoes...super thoughtful. They have a ton of drink options too. We didn't use restroom. Service: there was one person in line in front of us. From the time we stepped in line to sat down was less than 5 minutes. Every employee seemed in good spirits.
Overall based on what is important to you, each place has pros and cons. I prefer Moe's vs. any location of Chipotle but especially the Chipotle in Monroeville... If you like Chipotle or Qdoba, you should definitely give Moe's a try. Even if it doesn't end up becoming your favorite, you won't be...
Read moreTerrible Service. I have never had a problem with Moe's until I visited this one for the first time. My main complaint is that they gave me someone else's order at checkout. I am a vegetarian and I got a burrito with tofu. When I came back home, took the first bite to find that it had chicken in it. I have never been given someone else's order, especially considering the order was made right in front of me. I don't know how this is possible since everyone's food is passed down the line in order to checkout. Regardless I understand mistakes can happen.
So I had to drive back to moes (total of 40 minutes spent going to and back home) to tell them I got the wrong order. I asked them if I could get that meal for free or some kind of voucher for a free meal due to the inconvenience but they said they were not allowed to without the manager's permission. Since the manager was out, they took my phone number and said he would call me the next morning. I never got a call back. And let me tell you, when I returned I had to wait another 15 minutes because the tofu was all out so they had to make more in the back. They burnt the tofu too much to the point smoke started filling the back room. One of the women working there was tearing up from the smoke.
Also on my initial visit, the woman making my burrito broke the tortilla twice. She was not trained well. So on the third try, another guy had to wrap it. It seemed like some of the staff was not trained well.
Since this Moe's wasted 1 hour of my time due to their mistake and didn't do anything to make things right, I will never go to this location again. I will only go to the one in Murrysville. Their service is much better and they treat their...
Read moreThis was a couple days ago. Excited to try the new Moe's in town. Used to work at one in Erie and have frequented the one in Murrysville. Well, I'll likely be continuing to make the extra drive to that one, because this one is already full of red flags even on OPENING WEEK. Got there about half hour from close, quickest I could after work. That should absolutely be more than enough to wrap me up a burrito, it's fast food. Some guy missing teeth stopped me and my girlfriend at the door to tell us they ran out of cooked meat because they turned the grills off. Excuse me??? What an absolutely thoughtless mistake to make during an obviously busy opening week. When I worked at Moe's, we definitely did not turn the grills off a half hour before close without enough food to last us the night. If it were opening week, I'm sure we would've made extra to make sure everyone who wanted food got it. Or, you know, kept the grills on??? That is so insanely ridiculous. So I guess for that whole last half hour they were open they might as well have been closed because people could not get food anymore. I would understand if I walked in 5 minutes before close, but a half hour??? For a fast food place, that is definitely enough time. I don't know if I'll be giving them...
