A classic example of getting what you pay for. The roof leaks requiring buckets to be placed around the gym whenever it rains, the parking lot is full of potholes and the employees just sit behind the desk chatting rather than cleaning the machines or enforcing the rules. They also have a program where kids 14 to 19 can join all summer for free. That rule, of course, is not enforced either and one kid when asked what grade he was in by another member, said that he was in 3rd grade.
The $10 monthly dues also attracts a lower class of members. They don't clean the machines after using them (a problem made even worse when young kids are allowed to be there), sit on the machines playing on their phones (as another member mentioned) and having loud conversations on their speakerphones while using the machines despite there being numerous signs around the club saying that calls are not permitted on the gym floor. There are also many healthy young males that park in the few handicapped spots and sprint into the gym!
BEWARE: I completed a survey in early to mid-May telling them of my intention to cancel my membership at the end of May. One of the owners responded to my survey on May 24th, proving that he had read my email by that date. When I cancelled my membership at the end of May (which you have to do via a LETTER or in person at the club) I was told that I owed nothing and would not be billed anything. The employee asked me to sign something and I confirmed once again that I did not owe anything and would not be billed for anything. While exiting the gym, she called me back and said that since I had not notified them of my intention to cancel by May 26th, WHICH I HAD, I would have the ENTIRE ANNUAL FEE FOR JUNE 1ST THRU MAY 31ST OF THE NEXT YEAR DEDUCTED FROM MY BANK ACCT WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION!!! I immediately sent an email to the owner and asked him to waive the annual fee (FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR DURING WHICH I WOULD NOT BE A MEMBER) and he replied that it was "company policy" which, as an owner, he could easily override.
UPDATE: I informed the owner WAY BEFORE the 25th of May that I was cancelling my membership at the end of May!!! It says a lot about your company that you scam people out of an annual fee for a calendar year in which they were not a member for a single day!!! I also do not believe that my annual renewal date was June 1st!!!
They are THIEVES!!! One of the owners KNEW that I was cancelling my membership at the end of May bc he responded to me on May 24th, WHICH WAS BEFORE THEIR MAY 25TH DEADLINE, in response to my telling PF that I was ending my membership early in May!!! I was also told by the person at the front desk that I WOULD NOT BE CHARGED THE MONTHLY FEE FOR JUNE!!! Although it didn't make sense at the time, she then told me that I could use their facility thru June 16th, which I had NO desire to do and which made NO sense at the time! IF I WAS PAYING THE FULL MONTHLY FEE FOR JUNE, CONTRARY TO WHAT I WAS TOLD, WHY COULD I ONLY-BEGOTTEN USE PF THRU JUNE 16TH??? DON'T BELIEVE ANYTHING THEY TELL YOU!!! I guess it's true that if you sleep with dogs, you get fleas (along with lowlife members, buckets set up everywhere when it rains due to their leaky roof, dirty machines, staff that doesn't enforce ANY of the rules and a parking lot and access road with...
Read moreI’ve been a member of Planet Fitness for over a year and had never encountered any issues until recently. Previously, the staff was always amazing—friendly and welcoming, creating a comfortable environment for everyone. However, my experience drastically changed when a new employee, Cayla, joined the team.
Since her arrival, using the tanning bed—one of the perks I pay for with my Black Card membership—has become unnecessarily difficult. On multiple occasions, Cayla has made it challenging for me to enjoy a service I’m entitled to, causing me to lose motivation to visit this location altogether.
During my last visit, I asked to use a bed that hadn’t just been used because of the heat post use. After preparing to tan, I realized the bed hadn’t started. This was frustrating as I had to get dressed, walk back to the front, and ask the staff to resolve the issue. My boyfriend, who also has a Black Card, kindly let the staff know the bed wasn’t working. Shockingly, one of Cayla’s new hires was unnecessarily rude to him, repeatedly asking which bed he was tanning in & not listening to him despite him clearly explaining that he wasn’t tanning and was just passing along MY message.
Even after they turned the bed on, they shut it off after just 30 seconds. When I confronted them, they claimed my boyfriend wasn’t allowed in the back, despite his Black Card membership that he pays for every month. This incident felt like we were being bullied and discriminated against, which is completely at odds with Planet Fitness’ “Judgement Free Zone” motto.
Due to the ongoing unprofessionalism and discrimination from Cayla and her team, I canceled my membership. I’m deeply disappointed with the treatment I received and won’t be returning to this location. The customer service I experienced was a far cry from what Planet Fitness claims...
Read moreOur experience here was very bad me and my fiance were looking to get two memberships here for the 10 dollars a month and one of the employees talked us into the other membership which is $20 plus a month and a guest can come with you for free and he mentioned everything is included and we'll save money so we were like ok sounds great let's do it after everything was said and done the employee did his finally part and walked away, another employee came over to make sure everything was ok we were like we still had a few more questions the employee that set everything up walked away and took care of another customer leaving us clueless and also started to eat his lunch right behind the register very unprofessional as me and my fiance was so ready to work out one of the employees mentioned the guest can't do everything we were like huh the other employee said everything was included which was incorrect information, so we ask what can the guest do? He said the guest can use all the workout equipment but not the massage chairs, hydromessage, tanning or the total body enhancement we don't understand why the other employee talked us into this membership when we mentioned to him that we would like a membership that includes everything for both of us, as were talking we noticed the employee who misled us in the employee break room right in the doorway holding the door open with his foot sitting in a chair watching and listening to everything eating his lunch he didn't even apologize about misleading us it was like a joke to him we canceled or membership the same day the employee kept talking about the $15 dollar refund he can't do it without the supervisor we wasn't worried about the deposit it's the fact that we were mislead and giving the wrong information that's what...
