Super hipster feel from the employees to the minimal decor with the bicycles hanging on the walls and the mugs and metal plates that conjure up images of homeless eating ware. Stuff is priced at hipster level as well, meaning a little on the expensive side.
Service was friendly, felt like your (slightly highbrow) neighborhood coffee shop. I came with my 17-month old toddler and mom friend. You know what I loved? That there was nothing around that my kid could destroy. The only thing they had at her level was several shelves worth of bagged chips but because she was full from what she ate, she didn't bother touching them. That and there happened to be another girl around 4-years old there whom she played with the whole time, so I really got to just enjoy my simple coffee break with my girlfriend. It was great.
I got their jalapeño bagel with cream cheese (asked for extra cream cheese, didn't get it) as well as a matcha latte. The barista got the matcha consistency correct. He sifted the powder, then whisked that thing until it was super smooth. However, he did it with water, then added the milk afterward. It was 50% water, 50% milk. I wasn't a fan. A latte is supposed to be really creamy. The result of using so much water led to a really thin latte and I wasn't happy with it. I've never had a matcha latte that watered down before. If I go back (which I hope to do), I'll request it be made with mostly milk.
My girlfriend got the Turkey Pesto on Rye and she loved it. She thought it was so good. It was her first time there as well and she said that she thought Grey & Cash was so much better than the Friends Cafe that was there previously. So there you go- two new...

Read moreGrey & Cash is a cafe restaurant that offers good breakfast/brunch and lunch. It's located on Myrtle and Lemon avenues at Monrovia. Interior atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing. Interior design was simple yet well conceived; wall murals, hanging bikes, and huge CA state flag. Indoor dining was very spacious, neat, orgnized and well lit. Similarly, their front patio was neat as well. They have a good selection of coffee and expresso, breakfast sandwiches, burritos and sides. You need to order by the counter before taking a table/seat. I came here on Saturday morning and ordered French Toasts (with whip cream, banana and syrup) and regular drip coffee that cost $10 bucks and $3 respectively. French toasts were soft, fluffy and crunchy on the side. Sliced banana topping was fresh and soft. Syrup has thick viscosity and sweet. Coffee was brewed perfectly. Condiments and water refill were self-service. WiFi is available. Service was mildly slow due to peak hours. Staff were attentive, competent and professional. Wait time to getting my food was ~15 mins. Prices were fair and competitive. Plenty of parking available. Overall I had a wonderdul breakfast meal and dining experience. I will definitely come back and recommend Grey & Cash if you're...
