ย ย ย Read moreWhen I found out this had been turned into basically a taphouse, I had no idea what to expect. I had heard about it, thought nothing of it, kept going about my daily life.
I was then invited recently by a friend to pay this establishment a visit. There's plenty of parking and because it's formerly a train depot, there's a lot of room inside and out. Outside has some bench seating with some outdoor heaters for some fresh Monterey air. Inside, it's large and spacious with various types of seating throughout to fit whatever mood you're in.
But it's a "tap depot" and should therefore be judged not by only it's seating accomodations but also the different beers available on tap. Each of my buddies and I tried 3 each and each had its own aroma. Want a nice simple flavorful pilsner? Try the Hobo pilsner. Want something that can give you your Porter fix? There are a few coffee porters on tap. Want some flavorful IPAs or be able to try their Therapist triple IPA as draft? They've got that. My personal favorite of the night was a half pour of midnight therapy that was very rich and unique in flavor, enough for me to want to go back and get a full pour next time.
There is food onsite though I was not able to try it, apparently they have a food truck outdoors? That's the only thing I can say for certain that I have no clue about. Luckily, the Tap Depot is located around some other food establishments be it the wharf down the way or Sapporo or even McDonalds is nearby.
Overall, it was an awesome first experience. Everything is well cleaned and maintained. Every beer was cold, every glass was clean, the ambience and lighting was great, it felt very welcome to be there. Very glad that this is...
ย ย ย Read moreIn an effort to be transparent, Dust Bow isnโt my favorite brewery in Monterey. That being said, it does offer the best atmosphere and vibe of a brewery in Monterey. The three other breweries nearby all have a great atmosphere too, but cannot match the space, nor the bragging rights of being so close to the marina.
I will say that Therapist(and all of itโs varieties) are fantastic beers. And Dump Truck of the Gods will knock you in your booty if you arenโt paying attention.
The staff are really cool. I had closed out my tab but forgotten my credit card, and the bartender tracked me down before leaving to return it to me.
There are only two restrooms, so there will be a line during busy hours - which is pretty much from 4:30 on daily.
Recently theyโve implemented a waiting list due to the sheer amount of people that want to come in. But occupancy laws being what they are, they have to buffer their patrons. A good problem for them to have. Btw, if you just want to sit at the bar and space is available, make sure to alert the person at the door. No need to wait if seats are available.
Speaking of which, there is ample seating inside and they have a large outdoor area as well.
Iโve never seen them not have a food truck.
Free parking is not available unless youโre willing to walk half a block. Do yourself a favor and download the ParkMobile app. It makes parking there...
