There was 3 adults two children. Four blacks one white. We were seated soon as we walked in okay no problem. They set us all the way in the back last booth. We were asked if we would like anything to drink. We ordered two lemonades for the children and three waters. They brought the lemonades but not our water. Two waitresses came to our table asked us again what we would like to drink we told her we were waiting for our water. Then the manager came asked if he could help us we told him we were waiting for our water. We also let him know that we have been asked this three times. The manger came back with our water. Okay now we are waiting to order our food we waited between 10 to 15 minutes. They finally came to ask us what would we like we put in our order waited for our food finally it came because of the manager. Okay we finished eating what were could asked for three boxes. They bought two but not mine I had to wait 10 minutes my daughter's boyfriend had to go ask one of the waitresses for my box. Got my box per manager the waiter gave us the bill my daughter's boyfriend paid the bill with his card. The waitress bought him his receipt but not his card. Who does that who would give a receipt but not give the customer back his card. The manager came with the card but by this time my daughter's boyfriend had gotten up to go find his card by this time his angry. He got hits card he talked with the manager and told him that his staff was being racist which is the truth. He told the manager come on man you seen it. The manager agreed he said "yes I seen it" we should had been compensated for such bad treatment. Needless to say we will never go back there and #turn21isracist To sum it up service was horrible my first time to Monterey was excited to visit but had bad experience with them... my daughter's boyfriend was born and raised in Monterey and will be telling his family and friends to never patronize...
Read moreI recently was at a conference at Asilomar. As we have done for the past 3 years, we put out a message to meet at Turn 12 after the keynote for drinks and camaraderie. Upon arrival the incredibly rude waitress told us that we would all have to be on one check (we had no idea how many people would be coming. It ended up about 25). I told her that as in years past we would just order from the bar directly (you know, as one does in a bar). She kept blabbering on and on about policy (one check) and how it would be easier to just order from her (on what planet would 25 people on one bill be easier than each keeping a separate tab at the bar?). As friends came in I directed them to the bar, but if I was in conversation she quickly got to them to take an order against our wishes. When I was ready to leave, 2 friends had given me money for their meals and I wanted to settle those and mine. I asked to speak to the manager after she gave me more attitude. The manager was as much of an a-hole as the server. He kept saying that he was trying to be accommodating, but it was clear he has no comprehension of that word. Even when we asked to make change for a 20 with 20 $1 bills he refused saying, "you have change right there." I had one $5 in my hand. Literally the place was dead on a Friday night without me and my friends. I explained that to the manager and pointed out he'd have an empty bar on a Friday night and is that really what he would prefer. He again said he was trying to be accommodating and appreciated our business (lololol.... hilarious). Anyway- they were both such a-holes I was shaking by the time we left.
So if you own a restaurant/bar in Monterey/pacific grove and are interested in hosting 25ish on a Friday night in December next year who are pretty chill and like to drink beer, our loyalty is up for grabs....
Read moreOverall a lovely atmosphere to dine and drink. Copious amounts of amazing automotive memorabilia and motorcycles which enhanced the environment and experience. The food was tasty and satisfying, but mediocre at best. However, our server Kristine, was outright rude, had a nauseating amount of attitude, and had an extremely pretentious tone. One of my friends has a few food allergies and was asking about options. She called his allergies a “red flag” and scoffed when my friend asked more questions about menu items. She said “I don’t have time for this” in an extremely dismissive tone when he kept asking simple questions about food items. She had to clarify that she wasn’t trying to be rude, but kept digging a larger hole. If I understand correctly, it is a standard to ask customers if there are any food allergies and accommodate accordingly in order to prevent allergic reactions that can be life threatening. I understand, car week can be a busy and stressful time for Turn 12 knowing it’s an automotive-styled restaurant in downtown Monterey, but one can still try to do their job properly and composed and not make people feel completely alienated for allergies that are out of their control. She overall ruined the experience for a lot of us. She then slapped an automatic gratuity on at the end, lovely. Kristine was a very poor representation of Turn 12 and what it aspires to be to help encapsulate the spirit of Motorsport that helps...
