Layers — Restaurant in Monterey

*COVID-19 REVIEW * If you need a cake and you’re in the Monterey area. Go here and order something from them. We ordered our wedding cake from them but weren’t able to taste it due to the distance from our residence (Sacramento). I was in touch with Hilary who made the process simple quick and painless. Ordering a cake blind without tasting seems crazy especially for your wedding but when things are out of your control what can you do. We ordered a lemon coconut cake and it was unbelievable. I’m not sure what kind of magic they use to make the cakes but that’s the feeling you get when you take that first bite and the second and third and so on. The morning of our wedding Ashley was our savior. We were supposed to have flowers delivered to Layers by our florist (Fleurs Du Soliel) but they never made it. Ashley called me the morning of the wedding to confirm that flowers were supposed to be delivered. Needless to say we weren’t very happy about the florist not delivering them. We got on the phone with them (see they’re review for more details on that) but Ashley came to the rescue. She could hear my wife on the phone getting upset with the florist and asked for the name of the florist and said don’t you guys worry about anything else. We work with them. We’ll get the flowers, we’ll take care of everything. It was comforting and she stayed to true to her word. Layers came through for us, exceeded every expectation. The cake looked amazing (with the flowers thanks to Ashley) and tasted even better. A big thank you very much to the staff, Hilary for the excellent communication to make it happen and Ashley for going above and beyond to make our special day perfect. We ordered our small wedding cake here. It was a destination wedding so everything was done through email. The email correspondence was nice and easy. Everything was clearly explained. We emailed inspiration pictures was was then given a quote. When we picked up the cake I was stunned. It was absolutely perfect and looked better than the pictures I had sent. I brought in my own flowers and they bakers placed them on the cake for me. The cake was so beautiful we were afraid to eat it, but eat it we did. It was a princess vanilla cake with raspberry filling and buttercream frosting in a stucco style design. It was the most delicious cake I've ever had. Moist and soft and sweet. We also ordered a few cupcakes while we were there and they were just as good as the cake. On top of the great cakes we received very friendly and helpful service while we were there. I don't know their names but the two ladies who helped is could not have been nicer. They answered all our questions and alleviated any concerns with a smile. I cannot recommend...

Just recently had an elopement in Garrapata this past Saturday and my mother ordered me a single layer cake to have after the ceremony with my husband. My mother told them the colors of my bouquet and it turned out amazing! I had even forgotten to pick up the cake before the ceremony and by the time we were finished with the ceremony and photos it was 10 after 5 (they close at 5)! Being in Garrapata we had absolutely no signal so I was getting my newly wed husband to hurry down the CA 1 so I could pick up enough signal to call and was hoping that someone would still be there to answer the phone. Someone immediately answered and volunteered to stay until 5:30 so I could still have my cake on my wedding day!
