I am this writing sherely on the customer service we received from one of the hostesses. My husband and I are here on a conference, and we came in to eat dinner. The hostess, I don’t know who she was, was a young woman, took us to the bar area and sat in there. I went back to the front and ask if we could sit somewhere else, that I was the wrong person to sit in the bar, that I couldn’t even have a piña colada if I wanted to, they made me sick. My husband is also a pastor and that’s just really not the environment we were hoping to be in. The young lady then looks at me and says “OK… If you don’t even want to be in a room so you don’t even have to look at it, we’ll take you somewhere else.” She then took us to a room that had two chairs, the one table in the room that had two chairs that was a very small table when there were other couples in there eating at table with four chairs and there were empty ones available. My husband is a tall man with broad shoulders and we very much felt like she did that on purpose and so we just got up and left. First of all, we should’ve been asked if it was OK if we ate in the bar area, and second she shouldn’t take someone whom it’s obvious that they would not fit well in that small of a table area and put us in those when there were bigger tables available. There were other couples at the tables with four chairs and there were some more empty ones in the same room. There were also some booths that were empty. I do not feel like going to a nice restaurant, or what seemed like a nice restaurant, and be treated the way that we were. I often give good reviews, but just based on the service we received from the hostess tonight, I can’t. My husband and I got up and left the restaurant. The hostess then said as we were going out, knowing we didn’t eat and knowing we didn’t stay, you all have a good night! I am not in the mood to put up with snarkiness and being treated with disrespect, especially when we’re prepared to spend...
Read moreMe and my boyfriend came to eat to celebrate his 29th birthday. It was only us 2 so no wait at the door for such a small party. I’m a server myself so I always over analyze my service/food/ and atmosphere of the restaurant. Food was amazing. Everything came out ant awesome timing. I got the chicken pasta which was great. Also amazingly generous portions in my opinion. We are foodies so we like fancy AND generous portions. He got the seafood platter. I tried his shrimp ,THE FRIED SHRIMP WAS AMAZING and he said the fish tasted so very fresh. We had spinach artichoke and onion rings for an appetizer and they were 10/10 the salad was also so amazing . It was fresh so it was definitely brought out as soon as it came up. He said the Hush puppies had an odd consistency on the breading but could have been caused by sitting on plate with fish .. We had zero complaints. Services was AMAZING . They were definitely busy as it was a Saturday night. After new years. That is what made the service stand out so well -it never lacked due to how busy they were. Our server AJ (I’m pretty sure) was absolutely amazing and we NEVER went without anything we needed. We NEVER felt rushed. And we also were never waiting for anything we needed. Perfect service if we could have afforded to tip him $100 ,we would have. When we come back to Montgomery we will be sure to come eat again and request him as our server. I hope he gets the recognition he deserves at this restaurant as he is an amazing server. We were so impressed. He said it was the best birthday dinner he has had. I’m so grateful their was a wait at the chain steak houses and we decided to come to Charles...
Read moreI'm a bit late on my review when I ate here about a month ago. I usually try to leave reviews as quickly as possible after I visit. I was treated to this restaurant on my birthday by my in-laws. When you visit during dinner hours, you can expect a wait to be seated of at least 45 minutes to an hour so it is wise to expect this going in. Once we were seated, our waiter was extremely courteous and nice, but like many other restaurants wait and cooking staff is limited, therefore we had a long wait time for our food after it was ordered. Our waiter did apologize at the beginning asking for our patience due to understaffing. I had nowhere else to be this evening so I was willing to wait. I ordered the 12 oz. Ribeye medium with baked potato and I ordered a cup of crab bisque soup. The soup had a great flavor though mine seemed to be lacking a bit in the crab meat department. When the steak came out, it was cooked perfectly and the flavor was outstanding. From start of wait time to being out the door after our meal we had spent over 2 hours at the restaurant. I do not know if staffing issues have gotten better since my visit but this would be my only complaint. Keep in mind, this is one of those places that I say are "special occasion" places. It is a higher end restaurant so you can expect to drop some cash on your meal and significant other. I did enjoy the rustic look of the interior and it is a dimly lit place for that bit of romantic ambiance and typical of a high end restaurant. The food was good and will more than likely visit again on another...
