I absolutely love Full Moon BBQ. My favorite BBQ restaurant. I always visit when I'm in Auburn or going to the Birmingham area & have always had phenomenal customer service. But I knew once this chain came to Montgomery, it was going to be an issue. I was telling my husband, who has never eaten there, how great the food was & how excited I was that they were open. We decided to swing through on an early Sunday afternoon. When we first pulled up, there were only 2 cars ahead of us & it still took us 15 minutes to get to the menu to order. I was fine with it due to the restaurant being new & how excited I was. Lol. When we get to the menu, the girl said "go ahead with your order". Like really??? That's how you great a customer? Didn't sound like she wanted to be there at all. I ordered a potato & my husband got the pork sandwich. We get to the window, I politely asked if the BBQ sauce came on the potato, because the one in Auburn places it on the side. Didn't know if all Full Moons did that. So I wanted to double check. If the sauce was on there, I didn't want it because it would make the potato soggy by the time we got home. She rolls her eyes & closes the window in my face. My husband just looks at me. I'm beyond pissed at this point. She opens the window & tells my husband that the manager is going to talk to us because he doesn't normally remake food. Are you serious? If you go to Outback steakhouse or McDonald's & your food isn't how you desired, they will remake it. So what's the difference here??!!! The manager came to the window & was the most sweetest thing he could ever be. NEVER said he wasn't going to remake my food. He was very polite & understanding. He remade my potato & even went as far as opening the box to let me see it through the window. I wish I could have gotten his name because he was one of the most polite managers I have ever encountered. But he really needs to watch who he has on the drive thru because that's the face of his business. The food was EXCELLENT, but I would rather take the 25 minute drive to Auburn/Opelika & spend my money where it is valued. The customer service there is 20 times better. Hopefully next time there would be a different face. My...
Read moreI was a regular customer with Full Moon since they opened in Montgomery AL. That ended today. This evening my family and I went to Full Moon in Montgomery AL, I ordered my food in the drive thru, then pulled up to the window. My total came to $25.50. The employee that took my was amazing, she was professional, patient, and kind from the time I placed my order at the intercom to receiving my payment at the drive thru window. As much as I wish this message was solely about the wins at this location, there’s a reason why I said earlier that tonight is my absolute last time I will ever come to Full Moon! As I paid the cashier at the window for my food I was able to see with another employee responsible for making my food. This employee held my chicken, then pulled a piece off and proceeded to eat it. After, the employee put the remaining portion of chicken in my plate. Seeing that led me to tell the cashier to send the manager to me. I told the manager what I saw, he then went to the employee and asked her if she pulled a piece of the chicken and ate it. The employee denied doing so and stated she had lent on her face and was removing it. I have noticed the management has had some turnovers from the time this location had opened and it shows in the quality and care for the food and the quality of employees they have now. A year ago no one would be caught on their phones especially standing at the front counter. Today however, the young ladies in the front were having a social hour with the phones out. The manager (Donald) was “running” the shift this particular evening. However it didn’t look as if he was aware of what was going on oh his restaurant. I told him instead of looking for his employee to be honest to simply look at the cameras. Either way this restaurant is now officially an unsafe place for me to eat. After leaving with my refund I went to the grocery store. I don’t go to restaurants to get sick, and if food safety isn’t a priority focus to your staff, then that is exactly what’s going to happen. And this is why I will NEVER eat here again!
My visit was on 8/23/24 at 7:48pm and I got my...
Read moreMy family decided to try Full Moon BBQ for the first time at lunch today. The food was so-so, style was fast food and price was on par with Jim ‘N Nick’s. The service was good, but the best part of my meal was the Coca-Cola, so that’s pretty sad, and it broke the bank.
I had the pork sandwich with fries. Meat was bland and dry. (My son tried it and almost threw up at the table.) Sauce was okay. Bread was just a bun, nothing special. Steak fries were bland with no crunch on the outside. My husband had the ribs with fries and squash casserole. The squash casserole was actually pretty good. Chow-chow came with it and was too spicy to eat. He said the ribs were bland and dry. The sauce was mediocre. There was no smoke flavor to any of the meat.
As for my son, he had the chicken fingers and fries. It wasn’t that good & he almost threw up when we got home. So, if that chicken made him sick, someone needs to check out the food hygiene of this place. I don’t know if they weren’t cooked all the way or if the frying grease was possibly too old, but chicken fingers and fries should not make anyone nauseated. He felt sick for a few hours, but at least he didn’t get food poisoning.
So, I can safely say that we will NEVER be going back to Full Moon BBQ. Honestly, I mean, 40-something bucks? Thank God we didn’t have to tip anyone. What a ridiculous price! We went there thinking maybe it would cheaper than a regular sit-down place.
I will tell you a good BBQ restaurant that’s not pricey at all & has the best service around, and that is Fat Man’s BBQ. Their BBQ meat will just about melt in your mouth! Ben Allen and his crew do an amazing job. It’s my favorite BBQ place in Montgomery! The next time I get a craving for BBQ on a Sunday, though, I will just wait until the next day when I can enjoy real BBQ at Fat Man’s. Full Moon BBQ? Never again. Never.
(I am not an employee at Fat Man’s BBQ & was neither asked nor paid to...
