Got there right at lunch time (around 12:30) and it was packed!! Even though we started pretty far back in line, they kept it moving and we were able to order in a timely fashion. The owner even checked on us while we waited and asked if we had any questions.
I ordered 2 chili dogs (one to eat and one to go for my husband) and an order of fries. I was not expecting the poppy seed bun, so it was a surprise to me but even though I don't like them, this was a good addition to the taste of the dog. I also wasn't expecting onions (maybe I didn't read the menu close enough haha) but they were very fresh!
My coworkers got italian sausage w/ fries and a chili dog with chili cheese fries and they had nothing but good things to say about their orders as well.
I like that this spot is right around the corner from work and offers a punch-card reward system! Will definitely be going back soon after hearing someone else rave about their beef sandwich!
There is plenty of seating but if you go during a busy time like we did (at least while the place is still new and booming), you might have issues getting a table. You really have to keep your eye out and possibly claim a table as soon as you get in if you can (put a jacket down or something). They do offer, I believe, 2 outside tables but if it's cold like today that might not be the most...
Read moreI came to Oliver’s Chicago Deli in Montgomery with a few friends who had never experienced authentic Chicago-style food, and it was an absolute treat. I ordered an Italian beef with sweet peppers, mozzarella, and giardiniera (wet), along with a combo, three pizza puffs, and three Chicago dogs. Every bite was flavorful, hearty, and incredibly satisfying. The beef was juicy, tender, perfectly seasoned, and dripping with bold flavor, while the Chicago dog had that classic, snappy bite that makes it unmistakably Chicago. The pizza puffs were crispy, golden, cheesy, and absolutely delicious—my friends couldn’t stop raving about them.
The atmosphere was warm, nostalgic, and packed with Chicago charm, with all the memorabilia making you feel like you stepped right into the Windy City. The only drawback was the pricing. At $8 for a dog, $12 for beef, and $6 for a pizza puff, it’s definitely pricier than what you’d pay back in Chicago, where they’re usually $3–$4. That said, I get that bringing this kind of authentic, high-quality Chicago comfort food to Alabama likely drives the cost up.
Overall, the experience was fantastic, memorable, and full of bold Midwestern flavor. The food was spot-on and nostalgic, and it instantly reminded me of home. I’m so glad Montgomery has a place like this, and I’ll absolutely be coming back every time I’m...
Read moreFirst time out was on a Friday, by 1230 they were out of the one thing I came for; Italian Beef. I settled for a Chicago Dog, which was good but was just heated through and not hot. It was $7 for a hot dog. I know it's not your average dog but... I got to try the Beef on Monday. It was good but not worth $11! Fries are shoestring and were salty this time (maybe somebody was just heavy handed today). I was in Chicago in July 2024 and paid about $8 for a Beef and certainly not $4+ for fries, so that's disappointing... I'll go back to Oliver's if I get a craving for the "taste of Chicago" but won't frequent. The owner is really nice and the place is run well! It's great to see a representation of my hometown after being here nearly 40 years. So, thanks for the memories and much success to you! I understand inflation is a beast but hope the prices can come down a little... I do highly recommend you give it a try though... The food is good and you might disagree with my price assessment. I'm not cheap by any means and don't mind paying for good quality food and great service. I just think it's a little overpriced. Overall, good...
