It was very sad. We try to support "local". This restaurant has so much potential and could be a real "go to" place. We found it everything, but. We went for a celebratory dinner, my husband's birthday. When we arrived, there were only 2 booths occuppied and there were quite a few children in the middle of the restaurant at the tables. We asked to be seated in a booth, away from the children. The hostess was "training" a very young, sweet girl (it was her first night). The hostess sent us with the trainee, directly by the families. I asked if we could sit in a booth on the south of the restaurant. We went back to the hostess and she asked if we would mind sitting in the bar. There was no one there (and I mean no one) so we said "Ok". When we got over there, there were no booths. The trainee said we were being directed to a "high-top" table. I took charge at that point and said that I could fix this situation and we just went and sat in one of the booths on the south side. Our server was very sweet, happy and professional and the only reason this restaurant was not rated a 1-star. The Scorpion appetizer was a great disappointment and fried way too long, almost burnt. I ordered the Filet ($38.99) and my husband the Ribeye ($42.99), (no salad was included, but two sides), both medium rare. They were both overcooked. Mine was the worst, totally well done, no pink to be seen. My husband's had a hint of pink so he kept his. Our server said she would take mine back and have another one cooked. But, now, you have one meal getting cold and the other just waiting. Some celebration. Our server told us "this just doesn't happen". But, in the next breath spilled the beans as she "had the same thing with another customer the night before". When my 2nd Filet arrived, it was still over-cooked, but I was not going to make my husband wait any longer. They were both tough, thin and very disappointing. The baked potatoes were good (up-charge $1 each) and the asparagus ($1 up-charge each) was too tough to eat except the top 2-3". The staff was starting to clean as our meal took so long and our server had offered us a complimentary dessert. The hostess? Yep. She was the dustpan "holder" while everyone else was crawling under tables and cleaning. It is so sad. Ransom's could be so much more. We know what we can expect at Salt Grass or Long Horn. Both are much...
Read moreWe had heard about Ransom's Steakhouse for quite some time so on the way back into town we needed something to eat and decided to stop and check it out. I was really excited to see that they had rolls similar to the rolls that you would get at Texas Roadhouse. However, once the rolls arrived they were undercooked. The waitress was so nice and helpful that she went back and tried to get us some that were better cooked and browner on top. They were not much better. The inside of the rolls just seemed like uncooked dough. It's not so much the fact that the outside was not golden brown it was that the inside of the roll tasted like it was raw dough. After about 4 trips of her trying to get the rolls cooked properly we just gave up on the rolls. The butter for the rolls which is a honey butter is divine. I got the chopped steak ($13.99) and my husband got the ribeye ($23.99). Both of the steaks were cooked to the proper temperatures and had a wonderful flavor. We both got steak fries, I got fried okra and he got green beans. The steak fries, although they were the bigger fries that I really do like, we're just okay. They also seemed a little undercooked. The rest of the sides were good, nothing outstanding. The chopped steak comes with a small container of brown gravy. I asked for more gravy. When we got the bill there was a charge on the bill for the extra gravy. You can see my photo of the amount a gravy they brought with the steak. The service was above average. Our waitress made sure that our tea was refilled before it was empty. She came back to check on us several times during the meal and she really seemed to care if our experience was up to our expectations. We don't live in the area although we don't live that far away but we left knowing that although Ransom's was okay it would not be a place that we would make an effort to...

I had an absolutely terrible experience at Ransom’s last Friday. I attempted to call in a to-go order before leaving my house, which is 15 minutes away. The first time I called, they answered, put me on hold, then hung up. The second time, they supposedly transferred me to the bar and put me on hold again. I stayed on hold for the entire drive from my house to the restaurant, and just as I pulled into the parking lot, the phone came off hold, I could hear background noise, and then—surprise—they hung up.
Frustrated, I decided to go inside to place my order. I asked to speak with the manager, and Kennedy came out. Her response was apathetic at best, showing zero concern for the poor service. The whole place felt like amateur hour. The bartender, Nicole, was busy goofing off on her phone, which probably explains why no one could bother to answer the phone. When I finally placed my order, I was told that the rolls that come free with dine-in meals would cost extra for to-go orders. Ridiculous.
To top it all off, I got home, opened my chicken fried steak, and discovered that they had forgotten to include the gravy. I called back, and Kennedy, who claimed to be the manager, said she couldn't talk because it was the dinner rush. She took my name and number and said the general manager would call me back. Unsurprisingly, I never got a call.
It's really sad to see what was once a charming small-town restaurant I've frequented for years turn into this mess. Greed, missing food, and a staff that clearly couldn't care less.
I will never return to Ransom’s, and they won’t see another...
