We went during the lunch hour on a Thursday, and it wasn't crowded as it usually is (school just started). So I was grateful. Let me just say those fish tacos will have me going back for the next round. I wish they gave me more than two. I would've eaten four of them (lol). This plate usually comes with fries, but I didn't have a taste for fries that day even though the fries looked thick and delicious. The fried okra could've been fried harder, but that's a personal preference. I know some people prefer otherwise. And the red beans and rice were mmm mmm good. I kept dipping my tacos in the dip that came with the onion rings. OMG the onion rings and the fried green tomatoes were a HIT also. The tomatoes had a crawfish dip that was delicious, and I don't eat crawfish at all. Sorry I didn't get pics of the tomatoes cause I was starving when they came out - not because they took so long - they were really quick about bringing our food and no it didnt taste pre-cooked at all - I just hadn't eaten all that morning. But my goodness everything was hot and fresh (in the words of Dora's backpack) "mmm delicioso!!!! 12/10 (wouldve been higher for the okra and two additional tacos (lol)!

Came back again*** My favorite place in AL, BY FAR!!! The servers on hand did best they could, but hey, I just care about food!! The cup of gumbo was small, but it definitely had me wanting more. I'll start by saying if you want an Oyster Po Boy, don't go to that other place in Montgomery!!! WINTZELL'S IS THE PLACE. Oyster po boy: oysters were fat, breading was really tasty (not just "breaded") the bread appeared as if from a local deli and NOT just bought at walmart. Fresh crisp veggies for the dress. Redfish and Shrimp Bienville: soo good!! Maybe a tad salty, but that's what the sweet tea's for. Such savory bites!! Do this one. Sides: Cheese grits-YUM!! Red Beans and rice- meh. Sweet potato fries- good. Bacon wrapped scallops with mango habañero sauce: Lots of scallops here with a little kick, just enough spice!! Bacon, perfectly seared. Dessert: Bread Pudding- OMG YES Peach Cobbler- OMG YES wish they were bigger, but maybe it's my fat talking. Sooooooo goood. Blackberry Cobbler: steaming with a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream. Cobblers are always so good. EAT HERE. SUSTAIN.

We ordered food to go and when we arrived to pick it up (on time), we were sent to the end of the bar to pick it up. Waited about five minutes for the bartender to acknowledge us and she said she just needed to box it up. She then proceeded to make ten drinks and take multiple new orders from guys sitting at the bar, and cashed one out. After ten minutes I flagged down a waiter and asked them to grab the bags, they said they would check on it and that’s when the bartender went back. Even then, however, she took another ten minutes to get the food. Once we got home the food was boxed in silly ways (steak, potato, etc.) in small individual containers instead of a meal container…) and the bread pudding looked atrocious. And I have to add, the to go utensils were just forks and spoons… how are you supposed to cut a steak? Split the potato? Seriously disappointing. The area they had us wait is at the end of the bar where servers are getting drinks and such, so you’re completely in the way. It’s a terrible place to have to stand and wait for twenty minutes. At the very least you should be seated back in the front waiting area while your food is gathered, but better yet, invest in a bartender that is capable and has actual customer service skills. Also, I watched her going back and forth grabbing things from a storage area, cashing people out, making drinks, counting cash, grabbing her bag, grabbing remotes, hands in the buckets for lemons and such…. never once washing her hands.

Food was pretty good. The service was absolutely amazing! Server knew his stuff and took pride in the food coming out perfect. Oysters were served after entree due to an issue but the server that’s been there for years made sure they got it right. The drinks definitely did not disappoint. The initial wait was about 10 minutes to be seated. Food would’ve got 5 stars if it came out in order but good nonetheless.
