Because the service was so outstanding and staff were very attentive, I hate to say anything unflattering about the food. However, I have to say that there's nothing spectacular about the food here that doesn't taste the same at almost any other low budget Asian inspired restaurant.
Several years ago, I began to notice what seemed to be a change in the oil being used in some of the usual Chinese restaurants I used to go to. It left an "old oil" rancid, bitter, chemical flavor on my stomach and I made it up in my mind to be very selective about where I went to eat Asian inspired food. I went to this restaurant on recommendation from someone I trusted, but sorry to say I had the same digestive experience I'd had as with the other restaurants. While their egg rolls were very good, the remaining orders that I had (sweet & sour shrimp & chicken lo mein) were less appealing and full of MSG. Overall, Happy House is just another restaurant...
Read moreI knew nothing about this restaurant before ordering; I just wanted some cheap Chinese food on the way home and found them on Maps. I should have looked at the recent reviews first. I will say that the chicken sticks were pretty good, but they couldn't make up for everything else. I asked for it "very very spicy" and what I was given had neither spice nor flavor. I didn't expect it to be great, but this was laughable. Literally, we were laughing at the size of the egg roll and how the chow mai fun looked and tasted like just...
Read moreLove the food, When it's freshly made but not when they warm up the leftovers from days previous. You can tell the difference. So, it can be hit and miss on quality. The price goes up frequently and they will over charge you every opportunity they can so keep a very close eye on your menu and the price you are given over the phone.
I've patronized this location for over 3 years now and just experienced an episode of the "Nickle and Diming" when I ask for fried rice instead of white. I was told it was going to cost an additional $1.50 more. That would've made the $9.35 meal turn into a freaking $12.00 meal. Not happening!! and not happy! China Delight will get my business for now. Ive never got bad food quality or "Nickel and Dimed". Hope it...
