We were visiting Atlantic Beach and decided to stop in and get Mexican somewhere. So my mother, sister, brother in law , 7 year old nephew and I got into my vehicle and headed to this Mexican restaurant. We arrived at Plaza and we're seated immediately, the atmosphere seemed typical of any other Mexican restaurant. We all order our food which consisted of my mother and sister ordering the same thing and my brother-in-law, nephew and I ordering different things. Our waitress was a young female named Autumn and she was a very good waitress. Some time went by and my mother and sister's food came out. Autumn told us it would be just a little bit longer for the rest of our food, she didn't want the ladies food getting cold. A while had passed, approximately 10 minutes and Autumn became concerned as to why we had no food and asked the kitchen. Autumn did this 3 or 4 times and was very apologetic and had no explanation as to why. We arrived at the restaurant 6:40 p.m. We finally decided it was time to go without our food at approximately 8 p.m. My brother-in-law spoke to the manager who didn't really give us an explanation. All he basically said was sometimes when you order something it goes wrong(What does that even mean). We told him we were going to leave and he told my sister that her check was $25 and some change. After all this waiting they were going to charge my sister for my moms food and her food and a margarita and everyone's drinks(1 beer, 2 sodas, and a water). My sister told the manager the waitress needed to talk to him and he dropped the price to $15. Anytime a restaurant has ever done anything of this caliber to me they have been very apologetic and didn't even ask for a dime. Plaza Mexico acted like it was a common thing to treat their customers this way and didn't even act the least bit shocked than we had said there for over an hour without receiving food. I mean come on we're talking about a 7 year old child not even getting his food you think someone would be hastily trying to solve this. The only person that seem to give a single care in the world was our waitress Autumn. So to you autumn keep up the good work but my family will not be eating at Plaza...

Read moreI have been eating at Plaza Mexico for over 10 years; I was eating here back when it was still called El Zarape before they changed owners. This is my go to Mexican Restaurant in Morehead City and for the most part I order the same two things every time I come here. Now first off, I never set my service expectations at Mexican restaurants high because honestly if you do you'll be disappointed every time. Today I was served probably for the 50th time by a water named Paulino. I have never once had a pleasant experience with this waiter, but I love some of the other staff members. Paulino is consistently in a bad mood, inattentive to his tables, and either does not understand what I tell him when I order or does not care. I have to send my food back with him every time I order for the simplest reasons. What I order comes with corn tortillas and I ask for them with flour instead. Each time he serves me I have to have him go get me flour tortillas because I don't know why. Today was especially irritating because I had my 11 month old son with me, whom I had sitting on my lap while my food was being served because no one would bring me a highchair for my son and I could not locate them in the room. I finally flagged down the hostess who was nose deep in her cellphone and had her get me one. I tip very well, I have always tipped very well even when my service was not up to par. I do enjoy this restaurant and I would like to come back but I will not be sat if he is going to be my server. 10 years of bad service from the same person is more than enough for me. This is your last tip you will...
