Belk is not a pleasant place to shop at. when you have several things you have to do for something formal that's out of your comfort zone, it's even worse. I spoke to the two older ladies today so they know what's going on. I also spoke to the lady in jewelry. You have a middle complected man very slender in the men's section. His name is Sam. First he gave us the wrong shirt size. He measured my son but it was wrong. I had a feeling. So we got the shirt he said and the next size up. Well, even the next size up was so tight in the shoulders he couldn't move his arms. We muddled through. Then we were looking for certain kinds of pants to go with it. Sam is nowhere to be found. Nobody is anywhere to be found. We muddled around for probably an hour before I came across a woman and asked for some help. She was one of the darker complected older ladies. she asked a young lady if she would come and help me and she did. We found the sweater. She did a great job. When we were done I was looking through some of the clearance items and she went back to work. We went back to the men's section where my husband and my son were. No one. We're trying to find a changing room. Sam is nowhere to be seen. Nobody is anywhere to be seen. I kept making snide comments about apparently nobody works there. well, we muddled through and we found what we needed for three men. And my son went over to try them on for the last time. We decided we were getting them and he was going to run over to shoes. While he's giving me the items we are buying, he says they're going to close in a few minutes we need to hurry. I said well if they want to go home on time they should have been helping us out these hours. So he went over to shoes. And for about 15 minutes nobody is anywhere in shoes to help him get the other shoe from the back. they started turning off the lights. So I yelled out my son needs the other shoe in men's department. Sam goes over to shoes. Tells my son he can't help him. The system is down. Sam sees the light complected white-haired lady walking towards him and changed his story and loudly said what shoe do you want? How can I help you. Can I ring you up? My son Said he came out with the wrong shoes and he took them anyway. It had been such an ordeal we just needed a pair of shoes. He lied through his teeth. And when he was about to get found out, he started doing his job. It was too hot in there. We were all sweating. Not once did anybody ask to take the seven or eight pieces of clothing that I had been carrying around the store with me. After telling my son the system was down, there was nothing he could do, he rang my son up with no issues. Zero. To tell you I am livid is an understatement. I don't expect people to hold my hand, but I do expect them to see some old lady carrying a lot of clothing around and asked to take them to a register. I had to go all the way up to the front to the jewelry to even get anybody to ring me up. I just I don't even know what to say other than wow! I won't be back. I live halfway between Moorhead and New Bern. It used to be this was the more friendly store. Not anymore. It should not be this hard to spend hundreds of dollars....
Read moreI think it's a requirement in order to be employed at the Belk in Morehead City to be extremely rude and not being able to answer any questions. I went in to purchase a smart watch that I saw online. It took forever to track down someone who could get it out of the locked case. Finally the woman who had the keys came over and asked which one I wanted. I asked her if she could price two different ones for me because they had one in stock that I didn't see on the website. She priced them for me and didn't even give me a chance to think about it before "so which do you want". I was taken back by her demeanor. I chose one only to get home and it wouldn't work. So I reluctantly headed back to exchange it. I went to the customer service desk where it clearly states "returns and exchanges". I again was rudely approached by another employee who said "we don't return jewelry here, you need to go over there and pointed to another counter. There was no one over there. I went back and told the lady, no one is there. She paged a lady named Tori. So I'm standing there by the case where I want to exchange my smart watch waiting. The lady at the customer service counter kept yelling "there's Tori, she's right there". She was no where near where I was and she kept saying go see Tori. I said I don't know who Tori is, I'm a customer and don't know their names. Tori wasn't friendly at all either. I pointed out the watch I wanted and Tori got it out. Then I asked Tori where do I do the exchange? She sent me back to the return desk that I was just at. So, I proceed to go back there only to be told by the same lady that jewelry exchanges just be done in jewelry, but Tori told her it had to be done at customer service. All this back and forth between employees while I'm just standing there in awe of the unprofessional behavior. By this time I was extremely aggravated because of the rudeness, no one wanting to help me and being sent back and forth all over the store just to exchange something. Totally unacceptable and horrible, horrible customer service both times I went in there. I will never ever step foot back into this Belk. Some major customer service training needs to be done at this location because the 3 women I encountered there were extremely rude while I remained calm and pleasant when I should have just returned the watch and got my money back and went somewhere else where I was appreciated...
Read moreGot a pair of shoes. Cole Haan Generation Zerogrand sneakers in grey. Probably $120 in Cole Haan website. Got an amazing clearance deal on them on top of even the store was 20% off. Mens shoes are in the very back of the store. I picked them out, looked for a few minutes for a box and an employee to no avail. The price tag was on the bottom of the shoe, so I took them to the cashier up front. He told me we have to go get a box from the back storage area. I said “no thanks, I don’t need it”. He grabbed the shoes from me before hand. Made me think he was just gonna ring me up and I would be on my way. No, he power walked all the back to the men’s shoe dept. the complete opposite side of the store. I followed him. He disappeared into the back for 3 or 4 minutes. Reappeared boxless. He somehow found the shoe dept employee (who I was looking for earlier) immediately. Had to discuss the boxless shoes mystery for an unnecessary amount of time. A try the end leaving it unsolved. Made the long trek back to the front of the store. He checked me out the exact same way he could’ve about 20 minutes earlier when I told him I didn’t find a box for them and I didn’t need one or even want one. it’s a department store. They’re so hard to shop in now. It’s sad but it’s part of who we are now, I guess.
Here’s a pic of the shoes. Not a bad deal for $30. I’d probably do it again for...
