I did give this place 5 stars as it was my favorite place in the area. However as of July 15, 2022 that has changed. My wife called in an order and confirmed pick up. When I arrived at the restaurant they said it was not ready (normal), but then proceeded to tell me the order was never placed. I said that impossible, bc I just spoke to my wife who said she couldnt be heard the first time (which the hostess confirmed) and so called back only to have a thorough conversation about her order. The hostess said such conversation never happened which was clearly not the case. I had also just driven 20 min to go to Millies when there are many other pizza places closer to my home. Naturally I was not happy esp given how many times I raved about Millies and went out of my way to go to. The type of customer brand loyalty companies kill for. After waiting another 15 min, I politely asked the manager if they could place our order and if he could at least cover one pizza for the inconvenience. That's when it went off the rails. Not sure if he thought I was trying to hustle a free pizza or something but I was simply asking he would do the right thing. You know, the owners who say, my bad, I got this one. Its on me - what makes you feel appreciated as a human being. Instead he defended his hostess saying she never spoke to my wife (after admitting she did) and dismissing the possibility that just maybe on a crazy Friday night she forgot to enter the order. My wife even said she had a nice conversation with the woman on the phone so its not about her. He told me I should have asked for the person's name my wife spoke with so he could talk with them, however then said there is only one person answering the phones. If so what does the name matter? Customers should not be put in this position. There is a reason the saying goes "the customer is always right". Its unfortunate bc this is not about a $20 pizza. I have better things to do than write this. It is the principle. How a store manager lost out on $500 of food from me this year (and countless more based on this review) for what? A lousy mea culpa? He told me the place was doing fine, and I shouldnt worry. My friend you are missing the point. Loyalty is hard to earn but very easy to lose. Perhaps this will open some eyes at MIllie's bc I dont care how busy the place is there is always something to learn and humble pie...
Read moreSo this is my first time here and i have to say im deeply disappointed. We got seated and no one came over for about 10 mins. Someone brought water, it took me and my mother another 10 mins to call someone over and the hostess finally came over to us. She asked us if we needed something and that she can take our order. I asked for some lemons and straws for the water. Still no one asked us what we would like to drink. Finally we called someone over again and my mom asked "are you our waiter?" The kid goes "i can be". No introduction, no welcome to the restaurant, just what would you like to order? There is no professionalism it's very nonchallant and we still have no drinks other than water. Fine I'll drink the water. Manager comes over with a prepared speech, not asking us what he could do for us, not asking is there anything I can help you with? Just immediately starts rattling off about how the restaurant operates saying that they work in teams here and anybody can take our orders. Well if this is my first time here how am I supposed to know that? How am I supposed to know that I don't have a waiter for my table? How am i supposed to know everybody takes part and it's a team effort. Great. Cool that it's a team effort, but if this is someone's first time here and they're expecting a server like any other restaurant in the world and they don't get one, obviously we're gonna say something. Food is alright and service sucks. Wont come back. I already know they won't care when they read this because this seems like a place that's set in their ways. They just want money and to go home. It's more personal when someone actually loves their job and they show it. Also helps for a bigger tip or a tip at all. Being a server myself for 15 years i wouldn't be caught dead treating my customers the way this...
Read moreMillie's Old World Meatballs & Pizza lies on a busy street in the middle of Morristown. The pizzeria is unique in the fact that it offers an interesting outdoor/indoor seating area. The outdoor seating area was packed during the lunch hour, but there was ample seating inside. Another cool feature of this establishment is that they offer both wood-fired and coal-fired pizza.
After being seated inside by the friendly staff, my girlfriend and I decided to sample one wood-fired pie and one coal-fired pie. For the wood, we went with a standard Margherita. For coal, we couldn't pass up on the signature pie. Both pies came out excellent, but we decided that the coal-fired signature pie had the better flavor. The sauce seemed to be richer in flavor and the crust was more crisp with a subtle, pleasant smokey taste. The base was also crispier with a good crunch. That isn't to say that the Margherita slice wasn't good...quite the contrary, actually! The Margherita slice was also very good with fresh and delicious cheese and good quality sauce. It was just that the signature pie was the better pick in our opinion. While on the expensive side, this pizzeria is a must-stop when in Morristown and I look forward to the next time I can satisfy my taste buds with the ever-delicious...
