I'll start by saying I've enjoyed this place for a few years now, visiting as much as 3+ times/week. It's very much like Cheers as many of us regulars have gotten to know each other. I have always enjoyed the bartenders, except one. A couple of recent interactions with this bartender leads me to decide to no longer visit as long as they are there. It's not fair to tank a review with one star based on individual incidences but I felt this was the best way to get the attention of management/ownership.
About a month ago I had dinner and a few beers. I've never had an issue until this incident when the bartender in question returned with my change for the $100 bill I put down but no check. I'm good at math and my estimate is usually within a dollar of the total. This time the change seemed to be a bit short so I asked for the check. Yep, my total was $36.25. The change I received was $54.75. I brought it to the attention of the regular seated next to me whom I've had many conversations with. He suggested I say something. I decided, since $9.00 was about what I would normally tip on that amount, I would leave nothing more and observe over time.
A few nights ago I walked in a bit late (10:43). I knew the kitchen would be on the late night menu but I'd worked late and simply needed to get something to eat. A slice of pizza and a beer is all I was looking for. I sat at the bar for 3 minutes before being acknowledged despite said bartender repeatedly going about their work right in front of me but never looking up. When they finally did acknowledge me they poured my beer and set it down. I asked if I could order a slice of pizza but was told the kitchen was closed. Disappointing but understandable. I know the late night menu switch happens at 9:45 so 10:45 is not a surprise, though I have to wonder if I'd been acknowledged earlier I might have been able to get a slice.
I finished my beer much quicker than usual and placed a $50 bill on the bar so I could go find some food. Again the bartender returned with change but no bill, setting $37.10 in front of me. Since I'd only had one beer it wasn't hard to do the math and know my $7.25 beer with tax does not come to $12.90. As before, I asked for the bill. The bartender turned to the computer, seemed to hit a few buttons and then informed me that it wouldn't allow it to print. I asked how much the beer was (despite already knowing the answer), reminding them I'd only had one. They became apologetic and quickly corrected the change. I asked to speak to a manager. The bartender told me there was not one on duty, it was just them. My BS meter was immediately pegged. If this is, in fact, the case, perhaps it is a lesson in why a manager must always be present.
My guess is this is a common practice for this bartender, thus the lack of bringing the bill when returning change as all the others do, in the hopes that people are inebriated enough not to notice and, if they do, can be dismissed as a mistake. If such poor cash handling is this common with this bartender I would presume there have been many nights when the cash drawer is short and management is already aware. It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure out that these "mistakes" are likely always an error in the bartender's favor.
I'd never expect a business to make personnel decisions based on the experience and complaint/review of one customer. I would have gladly handled this at the time, one-on-one with a manager but was not given that opportunity. I suspect others have had similar experience with this bartender, though many may not have noticed. It's likely not just cash payments so when you go, make sure to double check, especially if you aren't provided the bill without having to request it.
I'd happily change my rating to five starts should this issue be permanently remedied.
*Edited down to 3 stars since there has been no reply from management in almost 3 months. Glad I've found other places that appreciate...
Read moreI had one of the worst experiences at this place. I specifically called to ask when they stopped serving food. The guy who answered the phone said 2am, and they were on a late night menu. I arrived at 11:30pm on a Monday night. No one was at the hostess stand, and there was a seat yourself sign at the front. I sat in the bar area since no one was in the dining room and there were many people in the bar. There I sat and sat waiting for service. The bartender was just joking around with people, picking up trash off the bar, wiping empty tables, and serving drinks. I did not see any other employees there but one guy walking around in the kitchen. I sat in that booth as minutes rolled by, and kept trying to make eye contact with the waitress. She was serving people that came in after me and never even acknowledged me. Even other tables were getting drinks, boxes, and checks. I had no menu, no drink, nothing....TWENTY FIVE minutes went by NO LIE before she finally walks over to me and says, "do you need something?" Are you serious? How rude and unprofessional can you be?!?!? Of course I do. I'm in a restaurant and I need a server. I held my tongue and asked for a menu and a water. She then tells me she is the only one there, like it is some excuse for her ignoring me. If she can wipe a table when 5 others are clean, pick up straw paper, and flirt at the bar, she can definitely walk herself over to my table and get a drink order. She takes another 3 minutes to chat with some guys at the bar and then brings over my water and menu. Then she says you need to hurry to order because the kitchen closes at 12. The time is now 11:58pm. Are you kidding me? First of all I called and was told 2am. Then I arrive and waste almost 30 minutes waiting for a menu to order from. Then I finally get a menu, and find out I have to get an order in within 2 minutes with an inefficient bartender and irritate the kitchen staff by ordering literally at the last minute. I really wanted to eat here. The time hit 12am, and of course the girl was not back yet for me to order. I was not going to order after the kitchen closes and have to eat and pay for food cooked poorly because the kitchen staff are angry that they have to stay over to prepare my food. At this point, I was so mad and starving that I just left. I hated that I wasted an hour of my life driving over there, waiting for service, and then driving elsewhere to get food. If I could give this place 0 stars to leave this comment, I would. The other complaints about poor service here is spot on. Don't come here to eat late night and expect any...
Read moreEdit all in all I do enjoy ruckus. Just give all guests attention. We both felt underserviced. The food is generally decent but if you want the overall my first visit to this location was sushi for the wife (also the same week) she enjoyed that. I got the sloppy joes and they were good. Also got the loaded tater tots( the barrel ones) (on the specials) these were very good but two of them were partially frozen in the middle I still ate them and didn’t really say anything.
Ruckus is fun and a place my wife and I always enjoy(Cary location) we do doordash and Uber orders and stop by often to that location. This location we started stopping at the other night. The other night I don’t have any complaints. Food was good service was decent enough I enjoyed that night minus a group was super loud.
Tonight though my birthday I go out with my wife and we sit down all is good we order waters because we were driving all day. We get waters get checked on one time for our order but we weren’t ready. Got checked on again and ordered an app. We put our order in shortly after that. That app came from the kitchen staff and was really good (Philly quesadilla) our meals also came out a bit after. My wife got the ribs and said they were good but not the best ribs which is completely acceptable. I got the end all burger with bacon cheese fries. The burger was supposed to be pink. And to be honest I never ever send food back. But this burger was just flavorless it was hardly seasoned and overcooked like it was tossed on the grill and forgotten about and just dressed up with cheese. It was honestly the worst burger I’ve had in years. I make burgers all the time at home and they are substantially better than that. Better example Burger King has provided a tastier less dry burger than I received here. Also the fries were almost cool. The portion was a small handful (they replaced with the correct fries and those were hot and a better portion) You can tell it was plated quickly and took a bit to come out. My waitress never really came back. I sat complained to my wife about it and for like 10 minutes no body came by so I go to the front and ask a manager to come by. Nobody ever came by. Also the server all of a sudden was at my table addressing my wife while I was still up front. (That was about the fries) I told her about the burger after I tried it. I got a replacement meal and an apology. I got no replacement drink like she said she was gonna bring and she brought the bill instead. Worst example of service I’ve had in...
