I used to live here back in 2020-2021 before they moved locations. I’m in town for vacation and brought my grandma for dinner because we remember we enjoyed the food a few years ago when I still lived here. The service has gone down tremendously and the prices have definitely gone up. Granted, inflation. But we were told we it would be a 20-25 minute wait to be seated. We were seated in about 10 minutes, which that was great. However it went downhill from there. It took ten minutes for someone to ask us if we wanted drinks, another ten minutes to get the drinks. And I tried to order my appetizer when I got the drinks but the waiter walked off so fast. When he finally came back, we ordered the fresh guacamole. Last time I was here, they used to bring the ingredients and make it table-side in front of you. He came back with it premade and still none of the extras we used to get with it like lime, salt/pepper. We didn’t even have utensils. We finally order and it took about an hour to get our food. By time we got it, we still did not have any utensils. My grandmother’s food looked tossed around. My grandmother asked three different employees for utensils and one told her hold on, the other told her wait, and the other said she would get it and never did. We waited another 10-15 minutes before my grandmother got frustrated and got up to run down a manager. By time we got utensils our food was already cold. When she finally got a manager, he didn’t seem apologetic at all, he just asked if we wanted plastic or silverware and we stated both and he gave us the silverware only and rushed off again. The waiter we had for the night wasn’t not attentive at all, no napkins, only was able to get one refill, didn’t even check on us until towards the end. Also I forgot to mention when we were first seated, we had to ask him for chips and salsa. When we told him about our experience he said sorry and shrugged his shoulders. To top it off, I went to the bathroom before leaving and the floor was extremely wet (granted they had a wet floor sign), and I fell really hard on my side, to the point where I was limping out the restroom. The employee didn’t help me up, he watched me struggle to get up and just moved the wet floor signs closer to the wet spot because they were far away. Also why was the floor that wet to begin with when people are walking back and forth to the restroom? Overall, I’m extremely disappointed in my experience here, which is unfortunate because Las Trojas is one of the places I used to enjoy while still living here. Next time I’m back in Georgia, I definitely won’t be visiting. The cost of our food for the lack of service was...
Read moreAfter two trips, I definitely will not return. It’s soo overpriced. Have visited so many Mexican restaurants throughout my life, I have never seen the prices this high at any restaurant. Even with the economy right now, there isn’t anyone charging this much. The mojarra/tilapia was $22! Seriously, if you do some research, you will see the average is anywhere between $13-$18. Their tilapia was definitely the worst I’ve ever had. They literally cooked the fish first and THEN added the seasoning afterwards. You could taste the dryness from the seasoning and it was so unappealing. Also, coming from someone who has worked in the food industry for many years, tilapia does not take long to cook. My mother and I both ordered their tilapia and when the first one came out, I told her to take it, thinking that mine would be out shortly after. Everyone else at our table received their food and were practically finished by the time that mine finally arrived. That’s just a huge no for anyone who has ever served. They had to order another drink just to kill the time while I started eating. We kept asking about the status for it and our server would just giggle and say “I know. I’m sorry, their just new. Probably their 4th month”. She was young too, so I really don’t think she understands how important service is. When it finally arrived, I realized that they forgot to bring me my beans. Which is what I was looking forward to lol. I was so irritated that I didn’t even bother to ask, I just wanted to eat my fish and leave. The drinks are also extremely overpriced and they are not at all strong. Had two large margaritas and I didn’t even feel a bit buzzed. My brother ordered their asada and it was soo thin, it was practically a milanesa, and he said it was just ok. Once we were seated, it took us a good 15 mins to even get our waters delivered. We kept having to ask for things, instead of having our server come back and check on us. Restrooms are also dirty. There was water all over the ground, which disgusted me, so I turned around and just walked out. Personally, I don’t think they have anything going on for them. Bad service, bad food, weak drinks, extremely overpriced. I really could not think of anything good that would have me come back. Their chips were even overcooked and hard. Had bad experiences on both of my visits. One night was pretty busy, but the other...
Read moreThough it wasn’t a Tuesday, I was in the mood for tacos. As I wanted to try somewhere new, my friend suggested Las Trojas Cantina so we headed there.
Las Trojas Cantina sits on the main road and was super easy to find. There is ample parking as the location is within a shopping center area. I parked, met my friend and we headed inside.
Upon walking in, I was in awe of the holiday decorations. The entire main entrance area is very cute, full of Christmas decorations with a twist and provides for a great selfie area. LoL. Heading to the host stand, the host was sitting there rolling silverware. She greeted us with a smile, welcomed us in and seated us immediately. Las Trojas Cantina is huge on the inside. It has the standard square design with the bars being the visual center of attention.
After being seated I began to flip through the menu. The menu is very robust and provides a great selection of Mexican classics along with a few American favorites. I opted not to do an appetizer as I was ready to get to the main course. lol.
I decided on the Birria Taco Plate which includes 3 Tacos and a side of Rice. My waiter was very efficient and provided a streamlined level of service that was appreciated.
The free chips and salsa is worth mentioning as the salsa is thick and flavorful. The authentic Mexican seasonings really shine in the salsa as it is very fresh and tastes amazing. The chips were fresh and had the right amount of salt to compliment the salsa.
When my food arrived, the visual appeal alone enticed me. The plating was spot on and the tacos were meaty. Not only were the tacos meaty, they were well flavored, well marinated, and perfectly done. The meat was tender and melted in my mouth. The shell was done to perfection as well. The outer shell provided the crunch while the inner shell had a softness to it that sat well between the marinated meat and outer shell.
Furthermore, the Consomè was amazinggggggggggg. I’m talking seasoned, hot, meaty, and the perfect ratio of fat to juice. This would make for a great soup starter. lol.
The rice was tender, flavorful, and held its own without overpowering the tacos. It tasted even better with a drizzle of the Consomè.
Overall, Las Trojas Cantina was an amazing experience and I will definitely...
