I brought a large party here of my friends/peers for a prospective student visit, and we were served raw/undercooked food in FOUR of the dishes we ordered (two orders of pigs in a blanket that were cold in the middle, one order of questionable chicken drumsticks, and one VERY raw order of chicken drumsticks). At least 6 or 7 of us unknowingly ate raw chicken tonight. I'm hoping to god we all don't get food poisoning as I write this, and even now (about an hour after we left) I'm starting to feel a bit queasy. Not good.
Our server, Bellarae, was super kind and I felt horrible for her having to be the middle-man in this situation. But I absolutely cannot come back here in good faith, and I encourage anyone reading this to steer clear of the food. Especially when they serve chicken that isn't even close to being cooked.
*as a slight edit for fairness to the owner's reply, the issue with the raw chicken occurred AFTER coming to our table to converse, as we ordered several appetizers for our group of 15. The pigs in a blanket were served prior to this conversation, but we didn't have much of an issue with it until the issues with the drumsticks arose. The sausages appeard to be fully cooked (albeit cold), so we simply informed the waitress and moved past it thinking it was a harmless mistake. Bringing it up here was meant to show that, for us, what initially felt like a fluke error turned out to be a pattern, unfortunately. We had an overall pleasant experience, but the chicken incident is hard to be complacent with due to the...
Read morePassed through Moscow with my family and had a hard time finding a spot to eat late on a Thursday night. Called ahead to Countrymen’s to make sure they were fam friendly… Chris explained that after 9 they turn it over to the 21+ crowd… he must have heard the desperation in my voice because he told us to head over and he’d figure out a way to help us out. We arrived and he directed us around back to the stairs leading up to the axe throwing area that at the time was closed. Closed to everyone but us! Turns out Chris was “The Axeman” (owner)… he walked us through the menu, took our order, served us… well, I don’t think served is the right way to describe it, it felt more like we were visiting family during a holiday. He hung out and showed us how to chuck sharp metal objects at targets. We hammered nails into tree stumps. He blasted Metallica for my moody 14 year old. Did I mention the food? Friggin amazing and I couldn’t believe the prices. Everything we ordered was delicious and the whole time we were reading the menu and trying to decide what we would try the next time we visited. Many thanks to Chris and my applause to his team in the kitchen. We’re rooting for you and wish you success. Love to see when an owner is intimately involved in all levels of...
Read moreOrdered the Tri Tip slider called the Hinterlander, exceeded my expectation. Absolutely delicious. I believe the price was very good for what I got 10/10. The place looks clean and has a nice environment. I think that captures it. The staff was very friendly and had a great conversation. This is a place where you could bring your wife or probably a business partner for a working lunch. Mature but rebellious? I think that works.
Update, came back a year later. I have come to expect that after a first impression at a place like this the second impression isn't as great. They got better. Their full sized sandwiches are solid. The Ruben sandwich is excellent. They didn't have cocktails last year and if I didn't notice the bottles I would have never known. Another pleasant surprise and just like the food, you would not expect to get a drink this good in town. It is fun that a small town start up place like this throws down a food style that comes, usually, a more...
