Dark & Light Cafe — Restaurant in Mount Dora

Dark & Light Cafe offers organic and freshly made coffee made by people who actually appreciate good, well-made coffee. My cup was brewed in front of me and made strong after asking my preference. It had such a rich, smooth flavor and smelled fantastic. They offer normal milk, almond milk, oat milk and another option I am forgetting... If you love coffee, this is a must-try Cafe!

Their food menu also looks wonderful. It appears to be vegan/vegetarian based with breakfast options, as well as lunch favorites like nachos, burgers, and empanadas. They have a wonderful dessert display too (cake, brownies, cookies, etc.). Everything looks delicious. 🤤

Update Oct 2024: I thoroughly enjoyed their impossible cheeseburger! I was apprehensive because I've never had vegan mayo or cheese (I already knew that I like the impossible burgers), but I was extremely happy when the cheese melted like traditional American cheese and the mayo had consistency of normal mayo. Honestly, with the fresh bun and ingredients, if this was given to someone who loves a traditional cheeseburger, I don't think they'd be able to tell the difference. It was delicious!

Dark and Light is located in an indoor marketplace along with other small stores. You can identify this building by the rainbow coloring and vivid red table tops in the back alley, or the pizza stone oven...

I am going to try to put into words what my heart and taste buds feel after my visit today. I am a vegan and have always struggled to find options when wanting to go out to eat other than a salad. I feel absolutely overjoyed having found Dark & Light Cafe. They have SOOOO many options! And there are options for our friends who partake in a traditional American diet as well. Today I tried the bruschetta and a veggie burger. I was blown away with the mouth watering experience I had. The bruschetta was fresh, perfectly toasted, and I loved the arugula on top. The burger had the most amazing sauce with it and another perfectly crisp bun. And it came with a side of beautiful potato wedges. Their pricing was fair too!! I feel completely obsessed with this restaurant. There are so many more things I want to try and I will be visiting quite often for quite a while without ever having to repeat an order. If you are looking for a delicious bite, you HAVE to try this place! You will not be disappointed. The owners are absolutely the nicest people you will meet as well. Which is just icing on the cake!!! I hope they stick around for many...

Dark & Light Cafe features the most plant based menu items in Mount Dora…a much needed and welcomed addition to downtown marketplace!

Highly recommend the Eggplant Panini with side of roasted red potatoes. A delicious balance of flavors and mouth feel, with layers of eggplant, avocado and fresh veggies, with in-house vegan mayo, on a perfectly tender inside-crisp outside panini bread. The potatoes were treated with a tasty coating and spice blend.

This item with side is one of the higher priced on the menu at only $13.95, and the serving was unexpectedly large (ended up being two meals for myself…love leftovers!) and well worth it.

A nice variety of in-house made desserts, including cinnamon rolls and brownies.

Gluten-free options.

You don’t have to eat plant based to enjoy this large menu.
