Highly disappointed. I discovered this place around a month ago and fell in love with it. I enjoy my sandwiches plain due to yes; being a picky eater, as well as food allergies/sensitivities. I would order the A’s turkey, with only turkey and cheese. I love the bread and cheese used. I have gotten this sandwich 2-3 times. The more recent times they have joked about me liking my sandwich this way, and have said to my boyfriend “she can literally go to jimmy johns and get that.” So sorry I would rather spend my money at your cafe...? I have referred TONS of people to them. My family has order a couple times from them, orders over $50 in sandwiches. My boyfriend displays their menus at his hotel. He refers the guest to this place. Just today I called and ordered my plain sandwich and was told “oh we have just a turkey and cheese sandwich.” I saw this coming being they have told my boyfriend “oh we’re making a separate sandwich on the menu for her.” Anyways I said that’s fine as long as it’s the same bread and cheese used on the As turkey. She said “yeah I got you.” Well that was certainly not the case. I received a horrible sandwich that was basically on toasted white bread with American cheese. Not the same bread and not the same cheese. Not sure what is so hard about simply placing turkey and cheese on a sandwich. If anything, I’m making your job easier. I am highly disappointed in them for treating someone who gives them so much business this way. Also disappointed because I truly...
Read moreI always try to " eat where the locals eat." After all, if the restaurant is flagged for health code violations, or serves terrible food, it will not be around for long! If the employees of the businesses surrounding the Deli Llama give this happening spot their business, then that is a huge indicator to me of the quality of the food, not to mention the quantity ( huge)! This adorable little gas station turned into a Retro Deli ( named the Deli Llama...how cute is that?) has indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a full service bar. Sit at the custom made counter, or in the secluded table for two by the window, but get there early to avoid the Courthouse crowd. The menu items are just as good as the vibe of the place. We tried Goats on a Date for an appetizer. It's a sweet date covered with goat cheese, balsamic dressing...so good! Then we.picked our sandwiches...so far we've had a Hot Mess, the Italian, the Cuban, and the King of King's. Each sandwich is flavorful, stacked high with all the goodies, with some amazing pickles on the side( made by a local -The Proper Pickle of Orlando). They have specialty coffees, canned drinks, and a bag of chips for sides. Call for times, but they close at 5! The Deli Llama is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to eat at. It's always...
Read moreBest sammitch in Lake County and most likely even beyond ! But the physical layout is NOT handicap friendly which we found out the hard way after my wife broke her hip. The building is an old gas station from the 50s. We went up a a handicap ramp to go inside. While we were enjoying our sammitches someone pulled up in a car and blocked the handicap ramp so we couldn't get down the ramp to our car. There was another ramp on the other side but if you're in a wheelchair you can't get to it because there is a large fan bolted into the concrete so we had to wait til the person who blocked the ramp moved their car. Sammitches are still the best around it's just a PITA to get in/out with a wheelchair. UPDATE : The retro atmosphere is gone from Llama deli ! In fact we won't be going there anymore not because the food is bad - it is actually very good - but it is next to impossible to find a parking spot in Mount Dora. And all the retro-furniture they had in Tavares is gone. It is now a walk-up counter. I wish they would move back. I think this was a...
