McGregor's Bar — Restaurant in Mount Dora

Great atmosphere, but it takes too much time to get service on the inside main bar. I suggest the outside bar because the bartenders make their rounds to actually check up on you there. The food before late night menu is excellent and always comes out how you order it. I recommend the seafood platter. The manager, Tyler is super friendly, pleasant, and welcoming. There are two pool tables that take 4 quarters to play. Monday provides FREE pool at the main bar. There aren't specials on food or drinks I have been made aware of. The crowd keeps to themselves and are all friendly. If you plan on drinking, be warned you should take an uber or take your chances with putting people in danger. The police hang out in the parking lot for our protection after around 10pm. They aren't there to hassle anyone, just to do their jobs like everyone else. The staff is always welcoming and friendly, but they are burdened with a slow transaction system. If the service was faster at the main bar and the card transactions were way more efficient, I'd rate 4 stars overall. Its the only late night place in Mt Dora, so you deal with the slow as molasses bartenders because you have few other options. Waited 15 minutes for a bartender to even say hello to me (before it was busy), then another 8 minutes to get one draft beer. No, it wasn't just that one time I went three months ago, this is a consistent problem to today. Staff has normal clothes rather than dress code/uniform, so its hard to tell who even works there. Staff that has the night off freely walks behind the bar, does their thing and moseys back to their seats. Makes you think you need to get your own beers from behind the bar? Again, hard to tell someone you've been waiting an eternity for one beer if you don't know who is on the clock. Musical talent doesn't exist. Give a child a mic to dribble baby talk into with their father playing guitar, it'll probably sound better than the garbage they put the crowd through. Thought it was karaoke night when I walked in (which it wasn't). If one other bar with pool tables pops up late night, I'll be there instead. I was in watching a hockey game on Thursday night 12/28 at 7:30. The whole time I'm there, there was a table of 6 people carrying on laughing very loudly for well over an hour, nothing was said to them by anyone. At about 9:00p.m my team scored a goal so I whistled and said score at intantly a bar tender later known as ANGEL yelled at me to settle down and be respectful of people still eating. I advised her no one including her said anything to the table being very loud for well over an hour and she again told me to settle down.
