Peach Valley Cafe has an abundance of outdoor tables, covered by a porch stuffed with overhead fans. The interior is also quite large with several tables, booths and bar-style seats.
We came around 9 am on a weekday and found it quite busy, which is usually a sign that good food is served! We were seated immediately. But it took a few minutes after being seated before anyone came over or acknowledged us. Thankfully, once our server was available, she was quite friendly and responsive to any needs.
My husband ordered some sort of roast beef, eggs Benedict with home fries. To be honest, for the price, it was a small dish. The two eggs looked tiny, and were overcooked (no gooey explosion of egg yolk to marinate those home fries) and the roast beef was cut into small cubes that had the texture of steak meat. The presentation was nice though.
I ordered the egg sandwich with breakfast sausage (add $3.50) on a biscuit. I won the best food plate for our visit. This was delicious and huge! You can order this meal on a tortilla, toast, biscuit...but the biscuit I think made this incredibly filling and so enjoyable! The extra fee for breakfast meat can be for your choice meat: bacon, sausage, chorizo, etc. For my meal, it included two thinly sliced sausage patties. Beware if you're ordering this for a kid that they put a good shake of some spicy(ish) seasoning on top of the American cheese giving it a little kick. I don't like spicy things and didn't know about this, but it wasn't overwhelming and I could eat it anyway. I opted NOT to add home fries (another $2+ charge) and left filling full anyway. The meal does come with a tiny side of fruit too.
If I came by myself and enjoyed the egg sandwich, I would have given Peach Valley 4 stars, but seeing the eggs Benedict roast beef meal dropped it down to 3 stars. I left happy, my husband left indifferent (and maybe a bit jealous...
Read moreWe tried to visit on Saturday at 11:15 a.m. and the place was swamped with a 35 minute wait. We went back on Monday at about 11:45 a.m. and even though it was full cover a couple tables still available inside and there was a weight of an undetermined amount amount of time for outside we didn't ask since we were willing to eat inside. Staff were following CDC guidelines with one exception I saw one waitress who went she went to pick up food at the hot pass through area from the kitchen she pulled her mask completely down while she was standing there finding the food for her order. Other than that the person that waited on us a pleasant man who checked on us often. The food was hot and a good value. I ordered the French dip with the french fries and they were lightly seasoned shoestring Style. My husband ordered the Philly cheesesteak with the potato salad. The sandwiches were good size however I will say that the French dip although it was thinly sliced and it was tasty there were a couple of those hard fat veins running through it. I pulled out the ones that were not edible. I would definitely go back but I might alter my order to something different. I had the Ghirardelli brownie which was quite huge and very well priced. I included a picture also with my hand next to it and a fork next to it so that you can gauge the size better. So I would say it's not the moistest brownie I've had. My husband was a little bit more disappointed in the peach cobbler. It was not a standard peach cobbler that he is accustomed to and I can't be sure cuz I don't normally ever eat peach cobbler so I have nothing to base it on. It was tasty and hot Peaches with sauce and some crumbles on top. All in all we are excited that they are in town and plan on trying them for breakfast sometime. Parking can be a challenge over there so I suggest going it off hours until things...
Read moreI came from Orlando to Mt. Dora to have lunch with my sister. The waitress was very nice and attentive. I ordered a burger melt on a croissant well done. My husband got a burger with cheese, well done. My sister got an omelet and my nephew a pancake. Everyone's food was correct except mine. I took a bite, and the meat looked almost well done, so I took another bite, and the burger was medium rare pink. My sister called the waitress over, and she took the plate to the manager who was standing up front in the restaurant. My sister observed the manager agree that it was not cooked properly. When the waitress returned to the table with the food, it was the same exact sandwhich with 2 bites out of it, including the lettuce, tomatoe, mayo, ect that was on the sandwich when that carried it up front to the manager. They had taken the meat off and heated it up more. My sister asked the manager, "Is this what you do at this restaurant? Does this seem ok to you?" At this point, the manager said, "I can make you another one, but it's going to take a while." Everyone finished their food while I waited for mine. I finally got my food as ordered 20 minutes later. The presentation was good and the sandwich was cut in half. I ate half of my sandwich while we reviewed the check. My sister requested the sandwich be removed from the check because of having to request the food be cooked and not reheated, along with the fact that it was time to go by the time I got my food. The manager removed the sandwich from the check. The waitress was very apologetic and assured her that she did a great job. We tipped her because she deserved tips. The...
