Cops & Doughnuts - Central Precinct — Restaurant in Mount Pleasant

Heard about this place when we came into town for a family get- together, figured we had to try their doughnuts out - great choice!

We got a dozen for $19.99, a very reasonable price these days for this level of quality (and I think they put a baker's dozen in the box)!

The doughnuts are very large compared to places like Dunkin, but more important to us, the quality is much better. The frosting is rich and thick. Whether the doughnuts are cake or yeast, they taste right and have the right "mouth feel" (as home brew people say). The fillings are pretty close to perfect - just like you remember from doughnut shops when you were a kid. Even one "oops" was delicious: the lemon filling on the first order was like a lemon custard, whereas the lemon we got on the way out of town was the lemon jelly, but it was SO GOOD! I'm betting it happened when they changed over from one to the other. We got lucky!

They had plenty of selections available, the place seemed very clean, had a sharp-looking seating area and interesting merchandise for sale, and most importantly, the people who boxed our orders each time were cheerful, helpful, and seemed like they liked their job.

I've been a long time customer of cops and donuts I have noticed a change. Unfortunately this seems kind of the norm anymore. You have a great product everybody loves it you start expanding in the quality goes down. Which is the case here. I used to drive over 2 hours to go to Cops and donuts on Fat Tuesday cuz they had the best Paczki anywhere. Since I just happened to be in Mount Pleasant on Tuesday 2025 I happen to stop in and thought well I'll give him another try. Well I can't say that's any better. I remember back in the day you'd get a dozen cream filled paczki in the Box was so heavy you just couldn't wait to bite into one. They're just not the same. The cream-filled we're my favorite. After I tried one yesterday the cream is not cream like it used to be it's kind of wet and gooey. Not like when I used to get them when the only shop was in Clare and the cream was light and fluffy and just delicious. I wish you could come back with that cream because that was something special. The stuff they have now just doesn't even compare. I don't like to write a bad review but I'm just being honest. Hopefully you can get that cream back because the long johns need it too not just on...

I don't eat out much anymore due to ingredients. But wanted to try this place for a while. I needed a something sweet kind of day... thought I'd try something I don't really eat anymore.. I told the clerk I never been here before. She didnt respond with anything which was disappointing. She had a ok attitude but didnt offer anything to a new customer I use to be a manager to a restaurant maybe I'm picky I'm not sure I asked her the price of a cake donut.. she didnt know. She pointed to the yeast donut but I wanted to try the cake.. I wanted chocolate Nothing really screamed.. "you have to try this" The clerk was zero help selling me on anything, she just didnt bother trying, being sociable or anything. That's the era we are in now unfortunately. So the donut tasted like you think a Cop donut would taste like. So it looked like any other donut place with stuff you can get anywhere.

At least the icing didnt taste too waxy and it wasnt a dry donut..just no wow factor or want to come back for more For me personally My husband can't eat here at all. So not...
