I've having quite a few issues with Groucho's, particularly the selling of "fake" club sandwiches. A club sandwich is traditionally toasted. At Groucho's you have to ask for it to be toasted, not the other way around. More so. When I asked for cheddar cheese, they added shredded up Mexican cheese. Who would even put this on a cold sandwich? Its like they were trying to make it as awful as possible. Furthermore, when I asked for onions I was informed they are a sandwich shop that does not carry onions. Thats like saying I run an elementary school but do not have any books. This place needs to seriously reconfigure their service and food options, basically comical the sandwich I received, and an utmost disgrace to the "club sandwich", an American classic.
Once again, 4 years later I gave Grouchoās another chance to just to switch up my sandwich selections around town.
I couldnāt be more disappointed. My āMoose collectionā sandwich on a sub roll was probably 4 bites worth of food total. I canāt believe I spent 12$ on this. Now Iām still starving and at this point completely given up on Grouchous. I would post a picture but you would need a magnifying glass to see the sandwich. Absolutely embarrassing I wouldnāt be able to honestly serve this to somebody without...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHad to go into work yesterday to do some computer stuff, and promised to feed hubby if he came as moral support. I looked up restaurants near work and when I told him there was a Groucho's minutes away he got really excited, waxing nostalgic for his college days in Columbia, where Groucho's was a staple of his diet.
Last time I saw this place, it was a crummy Subway. It's much better now. The hostess greeted us upon entry and asked if we would be dining in or to-go, and we said both! I got the Apollo Dipper all ham with both sauces and hubby got the Big Dipper with 45 sauce. Both sauces are fantastic, excellent with the house-branded chips, and really make the sandwich special. The ham was was so sweet and tender, the bread was soft but had a nice crust. Everything was in the right ratio, it's an excellent hoagie. Hubby says I'll be bringing more home since it's on my way :)
The chips are great. More body than Lay's and lighter and crisper than kettle chips. They showcase the flavorful dips and I can't stop eating!
The to-go subs were delicious even hours later. The Baby was loaded with tasty meats and tangy slaw. Hubby's Brown Moose was good but he's all about the Dippers. He needs an STP right now, he says! Guess I'll...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTried this place and the STP sandwich for the first time a couple of days ago. What a disappointmentā¦There was nothing good about this sandwich. Ingredients were not good, no seasoning, no texture, no character, no tasteā¦nothingā¦it was more like the ghost of a sandwich⦠I have been working in the food and beverage industry for more than 20years and I am usually very careful with judgement and critics as I understand the amount of work, dedication and problems that are part of the business as well as what you can expect for the money. But this thing I had the other day was definitely not right. The guy who made it needs to learn what food and service are or do something...
