IHOP — Restaurant in Mount Pleasant

I LOVE IHOP!!! LORI IS A WONDERFUL WAITRESS (SHE'S AT THE MT. PLEASANT IHOP) SHE'S A VERY TALL, THIN, AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMAN WHO IS ONE OF THE BEST WAITRESSES I'VE EVER HAD THE PLEASURE OF BEING SERVED BY!!! SHE IS ATTENTIVE, WELL SPOKEN, AND A DELIGHT TO BE AROUND WITH HER POSITIVE ATTITUDE AND THOUGHTS!! AS FOR IHOP, INDIVIDUALLY, I LOVE THEIR ASSORTMENT OF FOOD. THEIR PANCAKES 🥞 ARE VERY GOOD AND YOU HAVE A GOOD CHOICE OF SYRUPS. I AM NOT HAPPY ABOUT A FEW THINGS, THAT I AND SEVERAL OTHERS HAVE SAID, LIKE THE PRICES. IN THIS DAY AND AGE, THERE ARE ENOUGH COMPETITORS TO BE ABLE TO KEEP THE PRICE FOR A DECENT MEAL AT A REASONABLE PRICE. THEY SHOULD CUT THEIR PRICE DOWN BY AT LEAST 5%! WHEN CUSTOMERS ASK FOR SCRAMBLED EGGS, THEY ARE NOT WANTING A "FRIED EGG" CUT UP WITH A SPATULA!!, WE WANT EGGS THAT ARE, PHYSICALLY, BEATEN AND COOKED. AND SPEAKING OF SCRAMBLED EGGS, WHEN YOU ASK FOR THEM WITH CHEESE 🧀, IT'S IMPORTANT TO "INCORPORATE" THE CHEESE WITH THE EGGS 🥚!!! PLEASE TEACH YOUR COOKS THESE VERY IMPORTANT DETAILS!!! I HAVE A SEVERE THROAT PROBLEM (ACHALASIA), I PRACTICALLY CANNOT SWALLOW ANYTHING THAT ISN'T SOFT OR LIQUID!! THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS I LOVE 😍 IHOP... FOR ITS VARIETY OF OPTIONS I CAN CHOOSE FROM!!! THE LAST THING I WANT TO COMPLAIN ABOUT IS HOW LITTLE OATMEAL YOU, ACTUALLY, GET WHEN YOU PAY ALMOST $5 FOR THE OATMEAL BOWL W/BRWN SUGAR & BANANAS!!! WHEN I ORDER THIS WHEN LORI IS WORKING, SHE MAKES SURE THAT THE COOK PREPARES MY BOWL W/2 PACKS OF OATMEAL, INSTEAD OF THE USUAL 1 SMALL PACKAGE THAT COMES WITH THE PRICE OF THE OATMEAL BOWL, ALONG WITH THE BRWN SUGAR AND A LITTLE PIECE OF SLICED...

It has been months since my family and I have eaten inside a restaurant due to COVID-19. We decided that an outing was needed. We figured IHOP wouldn't be busy on a Wednesday around 6 p.m...and we were right.

When we entered the establishment we were greeted by a waitress who sat us in the dining area with 1 other couple. We were seated on the other side of the restaurant and they had dividers installed in each booth. #YES We were very happy with how things were going;however, it quickly changed.

We ordered our food and it arrived within record time. The food was hot and our order was correct. As we were preparing to eat our meal, 2 other groups entered the restaurant. As big as the seating area is, I was certain that the waiter would have seated the other parties in another area to prevent the spread of COVID-19 or at least 6 feet away.. To my disbelief, the two parties were seated on both sides of us. I was in SHOCK! I immediately lost my entire appetite and urged my family to stop eating and put on a mask.

When our waiter returned to our table, I asked him why he sat BOTH groups on top of us. The restaurant is large enough to the point that we can all eat without worry.

The waiter responded "It's fine. We have the dividers up in the booth for protection"....Say What! I was speechless. He did not offer to move my family and I to another section...nothing at all.

As politely as possible, I asked for carry out trays for our meals and we quickly left.

I will NEVER EVER EVER eat at IHOP again. This experience has left a lasting impression and I urge others to proceed with caution when dining at...

Food and waitress service was very good. It was very clean as well. Thats the good... Now for the bad....at the next table over from us were two ladies with 6 children that ranged from probably 3 to maybe 10. When we were seated, one of the ladies looked at my wife and said "you all must be very brave". We were puzzled by her comment at first but withing a couple of minutes we understood!!! All of the kids continuously were yelling loudly, hopping around, climibing in and out and across the chairs, and such. NONSTOP!! And the two ladies were just casually talking to each other without a care in the world that the kids were being so obnoxiously loud. My wife and I looked around and almost every table of people were staring at the table of kids, obviously as annoyed as we were. This went on the entire time we were in there! I do fault the two ladies for not controlling the kids in a public place, but moreso I fault the employees and management for not speaking to them and telling them they were being too loud and bothering other customers because it was certainly obvious they were bothering everyone. I dont think I have ever tried to eat so fast to get out of somewhere!! When the waitress finally came over to ask if tjere was anything else she could get us, i said yes the check and ear plugs. The waitress just chuckled about it... Very disappointed in that experience. We go to Ihop quite often and have never had such a bad experience...
