My personal experiences. Nothing is elaborated or exaggerated. You may take away what you want. Immediate disappointment. Get there on a Thurs. night for some dinner (their website shows some amazing meals, more about that in a min) after work and maybe a game of pool. Lyft drops us off, security standing out front. Ok... Then told there was an $8.00 cover for a band. Ugh.. but we all pay it (food on their site looked worth it). Go inside and the band is an extremely loud punk rock British band. Literally couldn't hear my friends yelling trying to communicate to me 1 foot away. Not... exaggerating. Tiny bar, extremely loud. Couldn't even escape outside to the tables or Cornhole, it was raining. Obviously not their fault but meant we had to listen to that eardrum rupturing "music". The half blessing was the band packing up 15 minutes after we got there, 4 songs, if you can call them screaming, songs. I say half blessing because why were we charged $8.00 cover for 4 songs then?? $40.00 total for the 5 of us? Whatever, let's just eat. Grab the menu and immediately looked for the rest of it. Super tiny even for a bar. I ask the staff, where's all the awesome looking comfort food pictured and touted on your website. I showed her the multiple pics from the website. Her reply to every one... I dunno, those must have been specials we had at some point. The 4 most yummy looking meals weren't even remotely offered. I literally settled for an order of fries and cheese dip. No where does it say on their site that those meals aren't offered and just "specials they had at some point". Look for yourself. Meatloaf and mashed potatoes smothered in gravy. None of those amazing meals pictured front and center on their site are on the menu, or any combo of them for that matter. Also, they didn't even get Thurs. Night Football game. We stayed maybe an hour after band quit and we got a Lyft back to hotel. Everything I just stated was 100% my real experience so take from it...
Read moreHugely excited and hugely disappointed in one foul swoop.
I moved to the area 5 months ago and everybody tells me because I’m English that I MUST visit this place. So the excitement and trepidation that I had finally found somewhere that cooks authentic English food (the bars words not mine) was palpable. The excitement grew as I entered the bar. It definitely has a British feel to it (although not sure why all the Irish stuff is necessary in an English bar). But hey ho I ordered the English Breakfast.
That is where the excitement came to a grinding halt and overwhelming disappointment set in. Ok here goes (compared to an authentic English pub) the service and initial greeting were very poor, the menu talked a good talk but when the food came it was woeful and quite frankly an insult to English food. The cook (I can’t bring myself to call them a chef) clearly has no pride in the food they throw out. The bacon was American not British (really bad start), the beans looked and tasted like they were 3 days old and just reheated in the micro (dry and congealed), cherry tomatoes not a fried tomato, eggs were burnt on the outside and undercooked in the middle, the only English item (by virtue of its name was the English muffin) we asked for a side of chips (again shown on the menu and posters on the walls and we were given seasoned French fries.
If you are looking for authentic English food DO NOT EAT HERE. Save your time and money there are plenty of better...
Read moreRob and Wendy Walker, the owners of My Father Mustache, are two of the kindest, most genuine, sweet, talented, and hardworking people you will ever meet. Although they don't cater often, they did cater our wedding and did an outstanding job! Everyone was talking about how delicious the food was! My (now) husband and I made sure we had to-go plates with us from the wedding because we couldn't get over how great it was! This was not your typical wedding meal… I mean it was, with the two+ meats, a variety of sides, and the usually wedding layout but the flavor factor was turned up quite a few notches! It was out of this world! We have been married now for 4 days and we still have people calling/texting us about our wedding reception dinner.
If you ever have a chance to go to My Father's Mustache on Ben Sawyer Blvd in Mount Pleasant, GO! Food is incredible, drinks are on point, they always have live music at night (usually Thursday - Saturday...give or take), and the atmosphere is so much fun! Thank you Rob and Wendy for such an amazing wedding reception dinner. Also, shout out to AP, the mixologist/manager, for everything you did. You might think we didn't notice, but we saw you giving it your all! We are still in awe!
So much love, Samantha and...
