GDC Home — Local services in Mount Pleasant

I recently relocated to Charleston and needed to furnish my new apartment. After stopping by several other home stores, GDC was our final stop (just by nature of the location). I flew down to make some decisions before I moved in, and I walked in feeling frustrated as I had been unsuccessful so far. UNTIL GDC Home! I knew I wanted a coastal look and from the minute we entered the store I felt hopeful this was the right place for me. Unlike some of the other places we had been where we were ignored, we were immediately greeted with warm hellos and smiles. As my friend and I moved through the rooms looking for ideas, we were continually greeted by very friendly sales people offering help.

I was in search of a comfortable, but traditional elegant couch. My living space presented as tricky as it was long and narrow. Not only did I end up with the perfect couch, but I found a rug and placed an order for two custom chairs. I am counting the hours for the new chairs to arrive to complete the space. I was incredibly lucky to have Cammi Fishel help me select, plan and order the items for the room. She was full of ideas. She was patient and recognized my visual learning style. On my next visit she had floor plans and more ideas. She also stayed in touch over emails. Not only was she incredibly enthusiastic and talented, but her communication and follow up was exceptional. She was a true pleasure to work with over the last few months. Also to note: Customer service was great as was the first delivery with another one on its way.

This store is a beautiful gem in an ocean of mediocrity!!! I used to live on Sullivan's Island about 20 years ago and I fell in love with the Charleston, Mt. Pleasant, John's Island area (i.e. everything Low Country). I recently retired and have decided to return to this area and buy another home. I saw the GDC Mt. Pleasant store on my way out to the Island and made a mental note that it looked very inviting and that I must stop in to see what is being offered in furnishings for my soon-to-be new island home. Long story short, I stopped in just to browse and I am so happy that I did! I was warmly greeted by a wonderful designer/salesperson with an utterly charming accent by the name of Michelle Hilton. As we strolled through the store, she not only regaled me with a delightful account of how she happened upon Charleston as her permanent home, but showed me some of the most exquisite fabrics and pieces of furniture I have seen in a very long time. I cannot wait to return to begin furnishing my new home, just as soon as I've settled on one!! You are very fortunate indeed to have employees such as Michelle and the others ladies I met at GDC Home in Mt. Pleasant!! Jennifer at GDC was absolutely wonderful to work with. We walked in unsure of what direction to take with our new master bedroom, but with her expertise, patience, and thoughtful guidance, she helped us design a space we truly love. She assisted us in selecting a beautiful new bed, along with bedding and pillows that brought everything together perfectly.

Jennifer also helped us choose a new living room set, making the entire process seamless and easy to understand—even when we didn’t have a clear vision at the start. Her ability to listen, guide, and bring ideas to life made all the difference.

On top of her design skills, Jennifer was a joy to be around. Our conversations were engaging, and she even shared wonderful insights for our upcoming trip to Paris. We’re so grateful for her help and look forward to working with her again...
