The atmosphere here was genuinely great, and my husband and I stopped in while passing through on our way to North Carolina. We were just looking for something quick and filling before hitting the road - but it ended up being a longer stop than expected.
It took over 30 minutes for our order, which was just a burger and four chicken tenders. That should've been our first red flag. While waiting, we parked and set up on their patio so our dog could stretch his legs. My husband went inside right away to order a plain piece of meat for our pup - no bun, no salt, just the patty - something light for his stomach before the long drive. It still took 10 minutes for that one tiny burger patty, barely a quarter inch thick.
The staff was very friendly - maybe too friendly. The front cashier, while sweet, called my husband "sweetie" and then laughed, saying, "Oops, I should probably save that nickname for your wife!" We both chuckled politely, but afterward my husband mentioned it made him a bit uncomfortable. I chalked it up to Southern hospitality we might just not be used to.
When I went inside to use the restroom, I noticed the staff chatting warmly with their regulars - asking specific questions that showed they truly knew and cared about their local customers. That kind of loyalty and connection is refreshing to see.
All in all, the food took longer than expected, the service was warm (if a little over the top), and being located in trucker territory means you'll likely get stuck behind a few semis trying to get back on the highway. Not a terrible stop, but not quite the quick pit stop we were...
Read moreWow! I never thought I'd be so enthusiastic about a fast food stop, but I was that impressed with the service here! We swung by while on a road trip with our two toddlers, and were just very happy with how we were treated. The staff were kind and patient as we decided what to order (it was our first time at a Freddy's). The cheeseburger was very good, and they had big slices of pickle (why don't more places do that?)!! Shoestring fries can be a bit hit or miss for folks, but I liked them (and so did my children). Perfectly crispy.
We weren't sure how much the kids would eat, so we split the kids meal and they cut the kids cheeseburger in half for them and put the milk in two different cups for them. It was just an incredibly thoughtful gesture that we didn't even have to ask for. I've only had that happen at sit down restaurants, and even then sporadically. They wolfed down all their food, so it was clearly delicious to them too.
The dining area is clean and well-kept. The bathrooms are clean - and this is the first place I've been since I've had kids where the Koala Bear changing station ACTUALLY had the changing covers.
Just so impressed by our experience. We literally came home and looked for a Freddy's near us to see if this is just the norm with the chain or we happened to stop by an...
Read moreMost employees did their job function, but either didn’t care or were drained from being overworked or something, just a bland “what do you want?” Asked if we could get some of the jalapeños steak sauce for our fries, was told they didn’t have any available for fries. Asked if that’s the same sauce used on the burger, was told what they had was for the burgers.
Poor job of restocking items customer’s need, lids and unsweetened tea. Tables were clean it if you want to use it. Understood rushes happen and things can be not stocked/cleaned and that is fully ok. It wasn’t that busy while we dined, it just didn’t appear to be a priority.
Got four meals - Bacon and Cheese Double Steak burger - extremely tiny amount of mustard on the burger, resulting in a very dry burger.
Freddy’s Original Patty Melt - good stuff, my granddaughter really enjoyed it
Jalapeño Pepper Jack Double Steak burger x2 - probably a decent burger if more than 2-4 drops of the sauce was on the burger. Without the sauce it is extremely dry.
Guy cooking the burgers had a nice big beard, uncovered to share whatever hair falls off with you, the consumer.
Best guess is this place suffers from poor management at one or...
