If I could give a zero stars review, I would. My fiance and I went on a late date hoping to share a nice meal and a shake. When we arrived, there were notices that the shake machine was down for maintenance.Okay, not that big of a deal. We were seated not too long after entering the restaurant. We were the only people in lobby. Our order was taken, and the next time we saw the waitress was when our food arrived at least 10 minutes later. I ordered a frisco melt add onion and bacon with fries and a side of cheese, an order of onion rings with ranch, my fiance ordered triple cheeseburger with cheese fries. My melt had no onions, my fries were smothered with cheese and I was also given a side of cheese. What if I wanted to dip some of my fries in ketchup? I wasn't able to get a drink refill, that I needed before my food arrived, until after I started eating. If that weren't enough, the waitress didn't even care to return to the table and recognize I was sitting there dissatisfied. We had to ask the cook for a side of onion. To top it off, I had found hair in my ranch and also in my cheese dip. Where was the manager? Nowhere, until more people came in lobby and realized she couldn't make her waitress do drive through, lobby with 6 people, and manage not to screw stuff up. Cheyann W was seemingly attentive, but really not. The only reason I even know her name was from our receipt. Didn't introduce herself or even attend the table enough for me to see. To the manager: if you have 3 people dressed and in lobby for a shift, your waitress needs help. To the waitress: attend your guests, make eye contact, and actually listen to what...
Read moreWalked in and my first couple steps into the building nearly land me on my back. The floor was greasy and slippery, looked like it hadnât been cleaned in weeks. We were seated by a friendly young lady. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands. Bathroom equally as unclean as the dining area. Garbage overflowing, crayons and other random items in the urinal. I come back to to sit down. We ordered shakes and burgers. My shake had a hair stuck in between the container and the lid. They didnât add the extra bacon to the burger like my wife asked. The old ladies in back cooking were clearly pissed off about something. Slamming stuff around and swearing loud enough for dining room to hear. Decide to just stomach the food we ordered and get out of there as quickly as possible. I take my ticket up to the counter to pay and was approached by a young man behind the counter. Actually, I only thought I was being approached. I was standing there as he walked directly towards me, made eye contact with me, and then took a hard right turn and proceeded to put on work gloves and throw patties on the grill. I stood there for another minute or so and was not approached by anyone else. I put my receipt down with cash and walked out. There were about 10 people in the restaurant. Overall the place is absolutely disgusting. There are at least 6 other restaurants within view from the parking lot here, I would recommend any 1 of them over this place. Sad because Steak-n-Shake is a good restaurant, this one is just...
Read moreHonestly would give 0 stars if I could...my husband and I were driving through on our way home from St. Louis today. We have stopped at this location twice before on this same trek and had not the best service, but this was the icing on the cake. Our first time stopping there, we went in, were seated right away and our waitress gave us her name and said be right back. 30 minutes later and we hadnât had anyone come back to us, not even for a drink order. Found out that waitress left right after seating us and no one else got assigned to our table. The second time we stopped, we waited in the drive through for about 20 minutes. Today, we decided that since we knew they tend to be on the slow side we would give them one more try and call in an order before we got to Mt. Vernon. The lady who answered immediately asked us to hold âjust a minute.â We could hear all the sound in the background, though. Once we arrived to Mt. Vernon, we were still on hold and that was about 10 minutes in. So we decided to stop at Panera instead. By then, it had been 15 minutes on hold. We were curious how long weâd be on hold so we left it. After 35 minutes - yes, thirty five!! My husband finally called from his cell phone and I hung up on mine - the same lady answered. She told us she forgot. Who knows how long we wouldâve still been on hold! After this many experiences, itâs safe to say we probably wonât ever try to eat at this Steak n...
