Checked out the new Taco Jo's in Mt. Vernon and I was pretty impressed. In a pretty busy location and not a lot of exterior signage I wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised.
On entry, the floors and tables were very clean, the staff was very friendly while taking my order.
They have a full menu with a lot of good looking options. I opted for the birria tacos. I mean, it is a taco joint so why not start there? After trying their tacos I definitely want to return to try some of the other meals.
The food was excellent, the ingredients were fresh from the limes to the meat, onions and garnish. The birria and birria sauce was delicious and juicy and the rice was on point with a spicy queso sauce mixed in. 10/10 do recommend!
Fairly plain environment, but a quick stop taco shop doesn't need anything fancy. As far as ambiance , they do have a pretty great luchador mural. While the food is the focus and it was well done, it's cool to see their appreciation for fine art apart from the culinary...
Read moreThis place did not disappoint. Very clean... great customer service.. nice and friendly and down to earth owner. (That you dont see everyday) the food is authentic and full of flavor. They are not stingy with the portions. I will definitely stop here EVERY TIME I'm in town. I look forward to tryn everything on the menu. There is so much to choose from its almost hard to decide.. that in itself will keep you comen back for more. When you come to this restaurant please make sure you haven't ate in a few hours. The food is very filling and it's so good it's hard to stop eating it. I don't say this about many places...I do say this in my restaurants and I am going to definitely say it about TACO JO'S "IF YOU LEAVE HERE STILL HUNGRY ITS YOUR OWNN FAULT" I want to say thank you to the owner and the staff for all your hard work and effort. It's really showing in your business and your food. Also thank you all for being so warm and inviting. We will be back to see...
Read moreGirlfriend and I decided to give this a shot last night; I've seen it around and been meaning to go but just been missing the chance. Staff is very pleasant, courteous and accommodating. We weren't sure what to expect walking in, but they were patient.
I had the street tacos (steak) with rice; these come as a set of 3 loaded tacos (meat + pico de gallo), but they also give you 3 extra tortillas for anything that spills out while you eat--like a real taco experience should be. These were served as yellow corn tortillas AND BEFORE YOU LOOK AWAY forget what you know about corn tortillas, these were fantastic! Tacos were very flavorful, standard they give you a red sauce and a green sauce. They have great flavor, and while I'm sure most people would think they were really hot, I would have preferred just a bit more heat. Overall I would give these tacos an 8.5/10, but if I ask for extra sauce on my next visit I'm sure I would call it a 10/10. I'd recommend...
